The Seven Deadly Sins.... What's yours?

I know we are all not Catholic here, but I just stumbled upon these and wondered where most of us have weaknesses in. Here they are: 1. Pride is excessive belief in one's own abilities, that interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity. 2. Envy is the desire for others' traits, status, abilities, or situation. 3. Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires. 4. Lust is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body. 5. Anger is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury. It is also known as Wrath. 6. Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness. 7. Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work. I honestly have realized that a few more and I have completed all. It's sad really because it seems that most of what we do entails to these seven. What do you think?

I'm quite guilty of Envy..I always see what others have that I don't have..I always wonder why they are more intelligent than me, why they are luckier than me, why they always have the good things in life..I always compare myself with those who are greater than me.. But somehow, sometimes, my envy is reduced when I see people with lesser things than me..I guess it's as they say: "There will always be greater and lesser persons than you are"..

I think we usually have this type of sin if we focus more on 'what we do not have' instead of what we have. I too am guilty of such, I always ask myself why others have better lives as compared to mine. But, I think that it is not really healthy because we are not thankful of what we do have. You really have reminded of my faults friend. My partner always tells me that I compare our relationship a lot with other people's and what's the norm. I just realized now that I am hurting him. I indeed need to focus more on what's good and positive. Thank you so much!

Well all of the above in some way or the other. I do try to restrain myself but there are times it's too hard. I try not to focus on stopping these but instead on thinking positive and do something for others from time to time. However as tollerant I may be, I am a very stubborn person and a bit proud as well.

I think it's the ability to sometime restrain ourselves and the inability to do so that makes us human. However, if we're succumbing to our sins more than restraining it, then there's something wrong with that.

Well I'm a fan of all of them! Seriously, I think it would be Sloth because I can be lazy and unmotivated at times.

I am super guilty of envy and I hate it. Sometimes I just cry out of extreme jealousy.

Well you should try to do something to avoid such. By the way, what are you doing now to avoid this sin?

Probably gluttony and envy. I can't stop myself from drooling over the nice cake display at the bakery. Yuuuum.

Well, looking at it is different from actually consuming it in huge amounts, right? It's good to appreciate after all.

I think I have those three deadly sins out of seven and I'm trying desperately to avoid those and reform myself because it's not pleasing to have those kinds of sins. They will only make myself more miserable and I will even hurt others because of it. But what can i say i am just humans and I can't avoid and delete all those three with in just one day. I think I need longer time frame to reform myself and make a brand new self out of my old ones. By doing this I can eventually have peace and pride for my self and until those 3 still inside me It will be a long journey to self recovery.

Anything that identifies me with the animal in me is the deadliest sin. I am guilty of committing all these at sometime or the other. These are the things that is preventing me from living according to my given nature.

Excluding two, I've almost completed them all. That is what you call being human. We are not perfect and are prone to weaknesses. These are just examples of those weaknesses that plague the human nature and that's why nobody's perfect. :)
