What do you think about tattoos? You have any tattoos? On what occasion you did

I thought now to the tattoos and how we perceive . What is actually a tattoo? Many things to many people assume. What kind of people can do something on the body that will be there for life? You'll make a tattoo? If so, why and what would it be? If not, why? Have you made a visible tattoo or not, small or large one? I had read somewhere that the idea to permanently mark one's body in the context of tribal life was like an assurance that the person will remain a member of the tribe, tattooed all his life .. that is also marked milestones as a rite of passage to another stage (adolescence, adulthood, beginner-professional in the hunting time). Is like an identity, looking for that something authentic, unalterable ... a tattoo as it tries to stabilize said to self-image, maintaining the same identity throughout life. Is right or not? What do you know more about tattoos?

The only tattoos I've had are henna and those kiddie tattoos you need to moisten onto your skin. Lol. Anyway, I wanted to get a permanent tattoo, but I hate needles, and I think it has a bad effect on your body. 'Cause I've read somewhere that someone who has tattoos can't donate blood or something, so yea.

It really doesnt hurt. I cant stand getting bloodwork done for the doctor,. That hurts more than a tattoo. After the out line is done, you really cant feel the rest. And as long as you watch the tattooer open the needle from the packet, you know its clean and your chance of infection are small. Yes, you can donate blood if you have tattoos.. just have to wait a specific amount of time afterwards before you can. They just want to make sure that the chance of infection is down way low.

I hate needles too, and pain, and I am afraid of infection, it happened so, but ... maybe I will try anyway, maybe one small, with something to represent me, maybe a lily flower and left shoulder ... it reminds me of Mylady, the Three Musketeers ....but she was forced to do that tattoo ... I'll willingly gave it.

I do not think there is anything so wrong with having a tatoo, however i would definitely not do it on my body. For one i do not want to have pictures on my body for the rest of my life, and secondly some people think wrong of me probably if i did it. Also i ma afraid of the needle procdures. I saw a tv programme once with poeple who had difficulties finding jobs because they had a tatoo visible. So I think one should think very well before doing one and in which part of the body.

Of course that is not wrong, is every body choice. It is interesting ... maybe give us someone who knows more details about tattoos and people who signifies dermis? Do you have desires ... of course, from a desire to explore the environment ... maybe boredom ... again ... maybe extravagant desire ... anyway, if you're not an eccentric personality, must at least have the desire to be trendy ... you want to stand out.

What kind of people can do something on the body that will be there for life? The kind of people who find beauty, self expression and enjoyment in having tats..I would be one of those ppl. I have two small tats on my left arm and yes they are visible to others (well in the warm months LOL)..and all the other tats I'll be getting will be of various sizes and some will be seen and others wont..

Probably another form of communication ... Reach the receiver do not know if he wants to express transmitter .... reason most often interpret as aesthetic sense or their own "beliefs" ...

i have a butterfly on my right shoulderblade that my brother took me to get when i was final legally able to get one.. to cover up the one i got illegally that was a homemade jobbie with india ink and a needle lol it has since become a symbol for my first born, and i plan on adding to it with something for my second child. i have a celtic wolf on my left ankle to mark my turning 30. "bona na croin" - "not collar nor crown" i had just finished revamping my entire life to finally suit MY needs instead of everyone elses around me.. and it symbolises the defiant warrior spirit that shall not be ruled by man or king. i have plans this summer when i turn 42 to get a pheonix at the base of my spine... this past year has been absolute hell, and ive survived it, it deserves its rite of passage marker on me to tell the tale

I got a couple of tatoos years ago. I traveled out of state to visit relatives. My cousin was there and he was a tatoo artist. I ended up getting two of them. One on each shoulder. I wished from right after that i didnt do it. I was studing the Bible and was shown from the scriptures that Jahovah said not to make any tatoo markings upon your skin. Id share the scripture with you but i happen to be away from home right now and dont have a Bible available right now. At least it was done in ignorance. I have not wore sleevless shirts since then. Its been about 20 years. Very expensive to have them removed. Every one makes mistakes. If you would like to know the scripture please just let me know. When i get back home this evening i can tell you what it is.

I don't see anything wrong with tatoos. Some are even attractive when the people are young. I don't mean a big tattoo, but some women get a little tattoo on their lower back, I think that is called a "tramp stamp". It may look nice now, but when they get old and fat and flabby it won't look so nice. I know some people put them over scars, to hide them. I don't think I would ever want anything permenant like that on my body. I can't imagine when you are very old explainin to your great-grandchildren why you are all marked up. I also don't like needles and with my luck I would get an infection!

To me tattoos are like artwork that's not stuck on a wall for no one else but yourself to enjoy. I only have two tattoos, but want at least two more. I have a small heart on my ankle and a winged heart on my back with a friendship rose inside. I want to get a yin yang on the back of my neck, and not sure what I want for the second one, but I was it on my lower back. I know once upon a time only people like bikers and bad boys used to be associated with tattoos, but I'm a mom of four, full-time student, full-time employee, mom of a homecoming queen nominee and an autistic child. Just an every day person. I don't think you can lump people with tattoos into any category, good or bad, weird or normal.

I currently do have a tattoo on my upper right arm. It's written on an Elvish language from the Lord of the Rings universe. It's only temporary though because its only a Henna Tattoo. It's already starting to fade but I think it will still stay on my skin for about a week more.^_^ There are those real tattoos that Ive seen on other people which I find very interesting. They're making their own bodies their own masterpieces and it is a form of expressing themselves through body art. As for me, Im content with those henna tattoos because I might tire of looking at a specific tattoo design so I like to switch it up. Ive only had two henna tattoos all my life though. I might get more when I travel again.

I do not have any and never would could not handle the pain. I think a small tasteful ones are fine, but when you start putting them all over your body it just becomes tasteless. I have also heard from people that they were looked over for jobs because they have large tattoos in site. If you think about it, and you are going to see a doctor and he has several tattoos on him, would you go back, would you trust what he is saying. Something for you younger mylotters to think about before getting a large tattoo.

I actually have two tattoos on my body. The first one that I got is a dolphin on my right ankle that I had done as an eighteenth birthday gift to myself. I love that thing to this day because it is such a symbol of who I am. The second one that I got, however, isn't nearly as dear to me. I had that one done when I was nineteen years old and it was symbolic of my relationship with my boyfriend at the time. We haven't been together for 10 years now.

I totally hate tattoos. They are in no way aesthetically pleasing. Additionally, they are downright dangerous. In the first place, why would anyone in their right mind inject dye into their body; why mark up one's own skin? That's what paper and art canvases are for. There have been studies showing tattoos can cause nerve damage, possibly cancer, certainly hepatitis C. Remember even Pamela Anderson saying she got Hepatitis C from sharing a tattoo needle with Tommy Lee? The notion of inflicting pain on one's own self evades me. To me, it is beyond primitive, and of course, so dangerous. Maybe some who are foolish and naive need to attract attention to themselves this way, but they would be better served to attract attention by doing kind and good deeds, being helpful and of good character, rather than self-inflicting colorful wounds to get attention. Some of them look like actual freaks. God tells us in the Old Testament not to tattoo our bodies. I think He knows a thing or two, since He made our bodies. Additional to the fact that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, if you watch any reputable news report today, they confirm the harm and disease tattoos do. I think it's just wiser and easier to agree with God, the greatest Designer of all.

i guess having your body tattooed is some kind of fad to other people.Other to remember something or a love one and others by expressing themselves through tattoos.

To me.. A tattoo is never a fad. Its never in or out of style. Its not style. Its artwork. Artwork to remember important milestones in your life. So that way when Im in old age, I can look at my tattoos and say, wow, i remember that... I remember i was 20 years old, it means Courage, I got it because you have to have courage to get pregnant at 17, keep the baby, stay in school and finish out senior year, still go to prom, make the decision that the dad is not a dad, and is useless. Move out of state and get a better life. All before the age of 18. Find the RIGHT man, marry him, and start living a life that is good...... Thats what I want to be able to do when i start loosing my memory... I want lots more, but they all have a good meaning behind it.

Tattoos is just a dirt that is what I see it. Although they called it art but for me you are just painting a dirt in your body. Sorry to say about it, but that's how I view it. According to them you also could not donate blood if you have tattoo. So just in case of emergency you are not allowed to donate blood for your family. For me that would be terrible thing that you know you could do something but you could not do it because of things you have done to you body. So I find it useless and dirt only.

it may be different in other countries, the rules for donating blood. my mum has a tat and donate's blood, she has done it for a number of years as well. i thought u only had to meet the criteria for donating and it didn't matter what you look like, the red cross would love you for donating your time and blood to help others.

In our country, even if you would like to donate your blood and once the red cross find out that you have tattoo on your body they will immediately turn you down.

Here, in US. You can donate blood, but it has to be X amount of time after your last tattoo, I think its either a few weeks or a few months. Just to be sure no infection. Same is with piercings too - ears or otherwise. And no, its not dirt. Everyone is entitled to their opinion tho.

I think Tattoos are in fashions these days. You can see mostly youngsters are prone to this fashions. A tattoo is a marking made by inserting indelible ink into the dermis layer of the skin to change the pigment for decorative or other reasons. I don't have any tattoos because I don't like it to have but many of my friends have this tattoos..I think these tattoos are all one of a kind, hand painted originals from dozens of the top tattoo artists from around the world that are attending the Tattoo Festival and many other festivals. They will be creating their fine art..Despite some taboos surrounding tattooing, the art continues to be popular in many parts of the world.

I think for some it's a spiritual thing, for some it sets them apart as an individual..for some it's something to remember forever. Each person has a reason why they get a tattoo. I have 3 professional tats and two I did myself (with India ink in high school-they're very shabby) I wish I'd thought better about the two roses (they're on my upper arms-they're very beautiful but not good for formal occasions) My dragon is on my right shoulder-It's very special to me-it was hand-drawn from my apartment graffiti and signifies a time of great struggles and the (now lost) love of my life (I have the dragon-my ex husband has the tiger tat)

I personally don't have tattoo because I think I can not handle the pain. I don't mind if others make tattoo if they really like it. I have friend who make great tattoo with good design or face of they love one like they children and spouse. I have a friend who have beautiful red bird tattoo all over his shoulder and its made very clean and detailed.

Tattoos are find. As long as they don't have their whole body covered in tattoo. I myself have a tattoo on my right shoulder. I have to say I am not proud of it because I did it out of a dare from my friends when I was 16 haha
