Hello there! Me, i wanted to retire at a very young age. 40-45 years old will be my ideal age of retirement because for me, i wanted to still enjoy myself with my love ones and friends, free from worries, and as early as this moment, im preparing for it already. I got myself a pension plan, medical insurance, social security membership and a savings deposit. For me, life was too short and i just want to enjoy it to the fullest. How about you my dear myLotters? what's your ideal age of retirement?

jinjer168 for me it was eighty which would not do for most people but sitting home doing nothing was not my idea of fun a nd I loved working in the library as it was not hard work, and I loved our crew there. But you do have the smartest plan, get prepared for retiremen young then you have funds to live on and plans on how to spend your free hours. I had none of that so needed to add to my social security as at the time I was also paying half of the rent. when I retired and the rent went up sky high i no longer had the fu nds to help with. I would have done things a lot differently if I had it all to do over but now its okay. it will have to be,

Hello HAtley! how are you? hope you're doin good... very well said, you have all the smart reasons why you chose to retire a bit late than the usual age of retirement. I'm glad that you're enjoying your job at the library and you get along well with them. You are lucky to have that kind of atmosphere in your working area so stay in love with your work and the people around it, because if you do so, your work will love you as well. I know that you will find a lot of means to augment your present income so you could also save for your future needs. Good luck to you hatley and God bless you and your loved ones...

Really? so sorry for thinking that you are not 84 years old yet. Ive looked into your profile last night and when i saw that you are 84 already, i can't believe it really. So its for real... Im so glad that i have a friend which is 84 years old and still able to give me a good discussion response. If United States was near from the Philippines and if I could travel without any documents or legal matters to pass before i could be permitted to go there and most of all, if i got the money for my airfare i will definitely visit you personally. I love to see personally. Hope you continue doing this internet stuffs, you are a great person indeed hatley and i simply admire you for that. God bless and take lots of care!

At that age I also would like to retire, because at that age we can still enjoy in travel. We still manage to walk and roam around in that age. For me retiring, is retiring to all the worries in life so I would like to enjoy it by traveling to places that I would like to go to and see for myself.

Exactly, how are you going to enjoy your retirement if you could not longer stand by yourself and you really need to have that stick with you. Retire in early age and enjoy what you worked for how many years.

For me I would retire at the age of 60 because I love my work so it is good for that age to retire.

Hello ebuscat! If you love what you are doing then there's no reason to stop or leave those things behind except that you really have to do it because you need to. Im happy for you because you've found a work that makes you contented with it that's why you learned to love it. Good luck to you and thanks for your response!

forget about the entire retirement thing. the most ideal status for me: work for a couple of days, then retire for a couple of days...people are so tired these days.

Yeah, as far as I am concerned, I think the ideal age of retirement from my job now, I think it will be at 55 years old, which time I still have some ability to do other things. It means that I still can try my best to enjoy my life so much.I do not want to work all my life.

hi there monkeylong! 55 was just okay with me too... not too old and not too young just like what ive mentioned in my previous response to my discussion started earlier. To enjoy and not to work that long was okay if that's your preference and if that could make you happy. Thanks and good luck!

I had to retire at 54. A nice age. I have young grandchildren yet, so the days i can hardly go they help keep me moving (at a snail speed) but moving.

its too early to retire at 45. You still have an effective 10 yrs of service not only for u but for the nation also. The government spends lakhs of rupees on every indivdual for their education etc etc. So it becomes a duty on our part to pay back. If everyone is going to retire at a young age the country loses billions of man hours. It might sound out of place to mentioned it here. I was astonished myself when i learnt that the Indian government spends 12 crore of rupees to train just one fighter pilot..

Hello preethaanju, well you've got a good point there about your views with regards to my plan of early retirement. You're absolutely correct for saying those. Don't you worry i will consider your advice and i will retire at 50 instead. Fair enough? LOL! Kidding aside, even if i prefer to retire early.. it doesn't mean that it will happened as planned. Yes im preparing for it this early but many factors will still affect that plan of mine before i could finally say that " im free, and im retired already." Maybe I could weigh things down when im a bit older and hopefully, we are still here in myLot when that time comes. Thanks a lot and take the best of care...

Hi jinjer, For myself I don't think I have to plan for retirement at early age, at present I'm enjoying myself in my profession and if concern about retirement It depends on how the business is going, when doing business its hard to think of retirement unless somebody could help you to manage ,so I think if I'm going to plan for retirement till I can press the button of the calculator I still have to sit in my desk.I'm enjoying myself now and I think for further enjoyment its all about having a family of my own and enjoy life together without thinking about retirement this time, Time itself will tell when I have to retire...hahahha...Good day jin!!

Hello cloud! good for you! I can sense that you're really enjoying your present job, and if i were you, with a job that allows me to travel, i will never resign myself early as well and that's for sure...LOL! For as long as you are happy with what you are doing then time will pass without you noticing it, so just work and have fun at the same time... keep on smiling and thanks for sharing your thoughts! take the best of care....

Hello unstopabble! you've got a point there, and i think that both body and mind exercise truly boost our whole being, thus contributes a lot to the longetivity of one individual. But not too much work and thinking of course! Maybe i'll just have to think of ways on how to be productive still when i retire but i don't see myself working really at a very late age and i'm sure our preference about that thing varies a lot in many different ways. Good luck and nice to hear your thoughts!

for me not really retirement but a career change at around 55 yrs old - time to start doing things i always wanted to do but did not have enough time for because i had to earn a living to raise a family. by that time the nest would be empty giving me freedom to do things for myself. and hopefully too by that time i will have the finances to allow me to do just that. good for you that you are preparing early for your retirement. good luck!

HI charlady, welcome to myLot! well it's good that you really knew what you wanted to do when you reach that age of yours in the future. You are absolutely a very considerate person like most of us who looks after the welfare of our family. We put them in good standing first, make sure that we provide them with everything till they can walk with their own feet, and after so many years of hard work, then that's the time to hope and expect for our own freedom, it's our turn! It's our time to live our lives with nothing or not much to worry about. Good luck and God bless!
