Is there any easy or simple ways that I can speed up my broadband internet connection without changing my ISP. My connection is nothing like as fast as my ISP says could be my top internet connection speed. I understand that it can vary greatly due to external factors which I have no control of ie. distance from exchange, time of day, quality of phoneline. I have been told to try different things like, move my ADSL modem away from any electrical equipment, plug modem into the master phone socket etc. Sadly none of these seem to make any difference. I dont wont to complain to my ISProvider as it is incredibly reliable, just not that fast. I have also heard that if I clear my desktop of as much files, folders, shortcuts etc, that this will help speed connections up. I have not done this yet as I have very few links on my esktop screen , most of which I use almost every day. Does anyone else have any good , simple ideas as how to help. Please keep it simple as I am not a computer whizz kid, so simple instructions will do just fine. It may also help afew others here on myLot. Thanks for the time, have a fun packed speedy day.

Honestly there is no real way to speed up your broadband faster then the Cap they placed on your speed, deleting system files will have no effect at all, their are some programs which can tweak your registry but honestly they are not worth the trouble, most of those programs out their are malware virus's or something's more sinister.

just download a lot from the internet and you will see your speed will increase significantly.i tried it and it worked but only if your isp(internet service provider) is not limiting your bandwidth

Have you heard an application called CableNut? It improves your internet connection speed by tweaking something in your registry. I used it and it works very fine. The only problem is, it doesn't support vista and windows 7 version of computer but they announced that they are already working on a version that can support all versions :D The significant change in my connection speed is download speed (from 50kbps per secs to improved 60 kbps) and web surfing speed so I really suggest trying this one :D

Thanks for your valuable input. I will certainly have a good look at this program / application. I just hope it is very easy to use, like I said I am not to hot with computers. Thanks again. If anyone else has heard of CableNut or any other ideas to speed up my internet connection then please please let me and of course other myLotters. Have a easy relaxing type of day, with no stress. :)

you can ask your ISP for an upgrade, but it will cost you. for you hardware, download "tune up utilities" it will fine tune your pc for greater performance and web surfing

I use TUNE UP you can get it from CNET.com it the most trusted site for software downloads, you can download TUNE UP 2010 trial version then after 30 days expiration, you will download PIRIFORM (CCCLEANER). I swear to you Tune Up will improve the performance of your PC.

The only way to increase the speed of your broadband is by paying your IPS provider to increase your broadband speed. And from my personal experience,I recomende not to download softwares from the net claiming to speed up your net speed. The whole speed control lies with your IPS and no one other than him can vary the speed.
