Noynoy finds an ally in Miriam Santiago

In an ironic twist that can only be found in Philippine politics, re-electionist Sen. Santiago says that there is no need for psychological tests for candidates. Sen. Santiago is a guest candidate of NP, their presidential candidate being the one calling for the said test. She says it's a non-issue, as are the issue of Villar's poverty and the death of his brother. She calls for people to stick to the issues.
Do you agree with her? Should we resolve the personal issues that are hounding the candidates? Does it really matter if Noynoy was depressed in 1996? Or that Villar did not really come from a poor family? That Villar has not swam in garbage (has he really)? Opinions anyone?

For the longest time, everyone considers Miriam to be a lady gaga in philippine politics. Let me clarify that i don't see her as one
. If all candidates are required to undergo psychological test then she will be the first to fail
. Her comments on Villar is just one way for her to sound fair. But personally, it doesn't matter if Noynoy got depressed in 1996 what i'm after is if he is OK now. Actually, it doesn't matter if the leaked report is true or not. If it's true, he must have been very much in love to become depressed. The good thing was he seek medical help. On the other hand, it doesn't matter to me whether Villar was once poor or not. My issue is since he is a businessman how is he going to get back all the money he invested in his campaign if he wins.

Yes, it's funny that she's the one protecting Noynoy. I am sure that this will spawn a lot of jokes. She is probably use to acing tests, and this might be one that she will fail.
As for the issues raised against Noynoy, although I believe that the psyche report, if true and accurate, is not alarming per se, I would want an assurance that it was not a symptom of something more serious, like a bipolar disorder.
As for Villar, the genuineness of his claim for poverty is important to me. Anyone who can lie about his beginnings is scary. What else has he lied about? And of course, like you, how will he regain all the money that he spent campaigning?
Thanks for responding and happy mylotting!

Well, Villar said in one interview that he will not need to recoup it because he apparently got a lot. But to hear that from a person who lies (about his poverty) and cannot distinguish between the bogus and the genuine (psych report) is indeed very scary. You will never know what will happen one he sits in that highest government office in the land.

I think Senator Santiago is right..
She maybe weird and everything but she really makes a point all the time. She even admitted in public that she has been seeing a psychologist because she's CRAZY.. tHAT was the term she gave herself. As long as your competent enough and you know what your doing and it's for the good of the people, that wouldn't be an issue at all...

The line between dividing insanity and genius is very thin. She is living proof of this. Yes, the test may not be a constitutional requirement, but shouldn't the governed at least be satisfied that they have elected someone who will be on the other side of a psyche ward.

What people should know is if all candidates are competent enough in the position. It, of course, include psychiatric test which is a requirement before one is employed in the government service. If Noynoy was depressed in 1996, he no longer is now and that is more important.Past is past. what is important is the present

Miriam is fascinating and entertaining. Had she been president in '92, we could have had a different scenario now. But that had been in the past and no use fuzzing over a spilled milk. But the fact remains that she is a genius. And a genius, as psychology would tell us, is a hairline away from the abnormal. That is what makes her fascinating. She shows us how moronic we are by being her natural self. If she says stick to the issue, then we must stick to the issue. She could drop an article in the constitution and the law that could support her contention. Always!

I admire senator Santiago the most intelligent senator of recent memory. She gives you her opinion and then backs it up with prima facie evidence, republic acts and constitutional jargons.

There's nothing wrong if Noynoy want's to get allied with Sen. Miriam Santiago coz both of them are on the opposition side, so I bet whoever wins still opposition will reigns. And about Manny Villar and Noynoy I don't know who really they are or whatever their background is and it doesn't matter to me, it's the experienced is the advantage of the candidates that can be used for the benefits of others or whomever, however there's a lot of people still undecided who's their gonna vote...And I respect every opinions and strategies of the politicians candidates still people will decide who gonna step up and be the next elected officials of our country. Let's vote wisely our vote is very important, it's for the sake of our generation and to the next next generation that would come.

I really like it when Ms. Santiago nails the issue just like this one. For me i think shes right lets stick with the issues, i mean rather than to talk if someone is really insane or someone is not poor at all , why dont we just take a look at the qualifications of these TRAPOS? I know they dont have much to offer, same kind of promise from time to time, but hey we just need to choice the lesser evil and be done with it.If people needs change i think we all need to do something about it , not just the executive or the legislative for that matter
