In western traditon, an engagement ring is a ring worn by a woman indicating her engagement to be married. Conventionally, the ring is presented as a betrothal gift by a man to his prospective spouse while he proposes marriage or directly after she accepts his marriage proposal. It represents a formal agreement to future marriage. But in the USA and Canada today,it is becoming more common ,but still rare ,that a woman will also buy her partner an engagement ring at the time of the engagement. What do you think of this , do you experience the same thing , do you think it is banlance to do this for your boyfriend, look forward to your anwers.

I never thought about buying my future husband an engagement ring. I guess I just wanted to go with tradition. He used some diamonds I already had for my ring, so in a way I contributed to the ring and I think that was enough.

When I got engaged I bought my husband an engagement ring because he saw one he liked. It was a silver celtic design. However, neither of us really saw it to be as important as my engagement ring. Mine was the proper engagement ring and his was a bit of fun really. When we got married he took his engagement ring off as it didn't match with the wedding ring at all. Where as I would never take mine off. I think it all depends on the couple, people should do whatever they are happy with.
