Are you acidic?

I can't wear silver and gold jewelry often because I'm acidic, so they tarnish very easily. VERY EASILY AND QUICKLY. I really find it as a disadvantage. I have a promise ring given to me by my partner, but I stopped using it after a few months because it tarnished and even broke because of too much acid in me. Lol.
And I can't drink softdrinks 'cause they give me an upset stomach (and eventually, LBM).
Certain types of make up also get darker on my face after a short period of time because of my acidity. I guess my acidity has the same effect on make up as it does on jewelry. Make up starts to get darker. :/
So, are you experiencing these stuff too because you're acidic?

jeeyah,
I do not think it has anything to do with acidity that your jewelry especially silver turns color or tarnishes.
You need to realize that your perspiration is salty than anything else and as such it is corrosive to all metals.
In case you do not realize, if your ornaments are really 100% silver, you need cleaning agents which are acidic to restore their shine. Squeeze a few lime into a cup and drop your silver ornament into it and see the restoration.
Now, that is only for silver and not for your gold ornaments.
Take care.

There are much more corrosive elements in some people's perspiration that will react or corrode metallic ornaments.
As for your silver, just do a test before you decide to use the method I posted. Scrap your silver ornament on a grindstone and squeeze a drop of lime or lemon onto it. If it shines, then your ornament is 100% silver and you can use lime or lemon juice to clean it. Otherwise, it will be the opposite.

Gold doesn't tarnish as far as I am aware.
It can get dirty of course but there are not many acids that can dissolve or spoil it.
I have never heard of jewelry breaking through a person being acidic.
Silver goes black when it tarnishes .
Brass goes a sort of dull greenish colour and leaves greenish marks on skin and copper a greenish brown or bright green dryish looking residue comes on the outside.
I guess you need to drink milk as that is alkaline if you get a reaction to an acidic drink.

Actually, I think it depends upon the quality of golds. From what I know, gold comes in different karats, so I guess the ones with gold karat can easily tarnish.
Well, I'm acidic and I sweat a lot, and I used to always wear my ring. Yes, it turned blackish, then it broke. It didn't really break as in collapse, but you know how rings are just melted to form a circle? I guess the part where it was connected disintegrated.

I don't have a problem with gold, but I can eat the steel in a watch after a time. But worse, I don't like winding watches, because I either forget to wind them, or, more likely, over wind them, and I disrupt batteries in a fairly short period of time.

I also think that I'm acidic because since I was a kid, every time I wear a silver or gold jewelry, it turns yellow, and my school uniform also turns yellow and sometimes darker, thank God for bleaching soaps because it was really embarrassing.. and if I wear a fake jewelry earrings and forgot to take it off at night so I slept with it, the following morning my earlobes will itch non stop so that means I'm allergic to fake jewelries maybe because I'm acidic..

i'd like to run a test on myself to see if i'm acidic. so where do i start? How do i do it?? I don't know how acidic I am, but I know my tummy's acidic in a sense that, i get gas from milk, caffeinated drinks, soda...but I don't care, i still drink them regularly anyway because of the taste (except milk). As long as there's a nearby toilet... haha.LOL

Well if I wear junky jewerly that is not sterling silver or gold then it tarnishes very fast and I have to throw it away there for if I am going to buy jewerly I either buy good stuff or dont buy any at all. If I put on brown lipstick it will turn red on my skin. I read certain people have a pigment in their skin that causes that. It used to do it a lot worse when I was in high school compared to now its not as bad.
