Do you like Tanning?

In the summer, most people, especially girls usually like to sit out in the sun and tan. But recently because of all the resulting skin-cancer some people have started to avoid the sun and tanning. Instead they use self-tanners and sunscreen everytime they go outside. I think it's a good idea, because it helps save from skin aging and possible skin cancer. But, at the same time I LIKE tanning because its warm and gives a nice color in the summer. Some other people though do not even like the tan because they hate their skin getting darker and prefer to be very pale through the whole summer. I've seen people like this and they like being white as snow. So, do you like tanning? How often do you do it? Do you tan only in the summer or year-round? Or do you prefer self-tanners and sunscreen?

HEllo wigima, well i preferred my skin as it is, i am an asian, a filipina from the Philippines. My skin is not dark but not so white as well, when i was younger and whenever its summer time, i really wanted my skin to be a bit darker than its usual color but now, i don't want to be under the sun again. Sun causes skin damage, skin cancer and skin to get old earlier than the usual...

Really? i havent really heard of asians tanning before because it's usually not that visible. One of my asian friends actually says her skin doesnt darken at all during the summer, unless she was back in the hot sun in asia. And tats good, itll keep ur skin healthier. :)

When I was a teenager everyone had to have a tan, we used to lay out in the sun for hours...silly us, now we know better and when I see people with dark tans I actually feel sorry for them, I look at tans these days and I think it makes skin look like leather....nothing wrong with nice soft white skin.

yea, too deep looks just plain creepy. eeh. like if you've ever watched "something about mary" and tat old lady she takes care of. yeaa.. tats just plain creepy. but I think a nice light summer glow looks nice on people. :) It actually looks healthy and nice. But some people go way intense. Fortunately my skin is light and I can never get it that dark even if I wanted to. I can only get it to a certain tint.

not me. I much prefer the look of pale skin. I think it looks much healthier, and this preference also helps prevent premature aging and skin cancer, so even better. I do enjoy the warmth of summer, but I like to sit in the shade and keep my skin protected and pale.

Well, I do like having a bit of a tan, which for me, isn't too much of a problem, as I either tan very little or I get sunburned. But that's just my skin. I still do try to get a bit of a tan while I can, as it's cold for half of the year where I live in Canada. I just like to make most of the warm weather.

I've never really done tanning (in a bed or sunbathing outside). I like being pale. I wish I was snow white, but my skin isn't quite that light. I usually forget to use sunscreen, so when I spend time outside in the summer I usually end up burning. I think it's good that more people are using self tanners. So many people are effected by skin cancer and it's good to know people are trying other options to get tan.
