I do not but my niece is studying it in college. She already speaks English, Tagalog, Filipino, Spanish and now she is learning mandarin. She says this is the hardest yet.

It is true that the Chinese language is difficult to learn. It is compose of different dialects. My girlfriend has Chinese blood and knows how to speak Fookien; but not Mandarin. According to her they have to master more than 2000 Chinese character and this can be compared to the hieroglyphs of ancient Egypt (the only character I can read is for "Love" and "Heart"). The Philippine government re-institutionalized the teaching of Spanish in schools; however, I believe that they should have considered Chinese as one of the electives - more than 1 billion Chinese can't be wrong.
