pocket money for children

if you give them less they will steal from somewhere and if you give some more than they will do illegal thing.

i think that its a good idea especially if you dont buy them candy and other little things...let them buy that for themelves

I believe that as soon as children are old enough to not eat money, you should start giving them money. Children need to learn how to save money, spend money, and give money, and the sooner they learn this, the better. It doesn't have to be a lot of money, and my parents used the "dollar per year" formula, based on my age. If/when I asked them for more, I had to plead my case. If it was a legitimate reason (like I wanted to go to a birthday party and I wanted to buy a particular gift), they would allow me the extra. Very early on I learned the value of a dollar, and how to use it, and this gave me incentive to go out and get my first job at a young age, when all of my friends were sponging off their parents.

It is also called pin money or spending money. It is cash available with children for incidental or minor expenses. It should not be that much that they start misusing it.

My son is almost 5 years old and he earns pocket money it is only a few dollars a week but it teaches him that he has to work for things in life and it also teaches him to save!
