I don't want to put burden on your eyes...

I noticed that some responders are nice enough to make their comments, or posts eye-friendly. Like when they know that their responses are going to be lengthy, they would put spaces in between lines, or in between paragraphs.
Some would make some words bold, or italicized, or underlined to stress something.
Some would also give a VERY HELPFUL one-liner response!
So how do you make a contribution in the making-myLot-eye-friendly area?

I keep my response short and I do the skipping in between lines :) However, I don't know how to make the text bold or italicized hehe

I try to keep responses down to a paragraph, mostly because I wonder how many people read past the first one. Doesn't always work that way though.
If my response is going to be longer, I do add the spaces between paragraphs. Well...most of the time anyway. One line responses may seem helpful, but it doesn't 'pay' to do them all the time.

I try to read past the first one, but I do admit of having a very short concentration span!
I appreciate short but direct-to-the point answers, with a dash of good humor too.

Proper spacing of paragraphs makes it a lot easier to read and more likely that it will be read, but there's an ulterior motive in putting spaces in. The length of the response is part of the earnings calculation and spaces add length. I've seen people using a space between each line, clearly trying to take advantage of that, but I think that's cheating!

Actually, as far as the computer is concerned, there is no such thing as a space. Every "space" that you see on the screen actually has a hidden character that tells the computer that there is nothing there!
You can test this for yourself when you enter your username or password in somewhere. After you have entered the right name or password, just hit the spacebar a couple of times so that the cursor is one or two spaces to the right of what you have entered. The computer will reject it because it will read those "empty" spaces as extra characters.

Are spaces counted as characters? Well I really don't know if some people are intentionally doing that however I doubt if those discussions ever outwits the admin who truly keep an eye on our discussions.

If I have a lot to say then I s p a c e i t o u t
I try and make sure the punctuation is correct when I type long responses or comments. I find that helps to get whatever point that I am trying to make across. It's difficult to please everyone though and I just try and do my best - which worls some days and others it doesn't
I think the emoticons help a lot too and I use them in almost all of my posts. If nothing else, at leas they make the pages colourful

Fair enough!
Oh I do read everything that my responders write down. I even had to read twice to get what they're really trying to say.

I respond and start a discussion in the shortest way possible. But I make sure it is understandable.

Hi hazel, a short discussion is very easy to read as a matter of fact but it doesn't make earning very possible. You have to try to make it longer like add a few more lines. 2 to 3 would do.
It is true that some people do one-liners. Some of them are unaware of the rules, some plainly violate the rules, while some...well, they are the seniors and they get respected for their post regardless of the number of their characters. Those people aren't exactly all crazy about the earnings alone. It's the camaraderie they are after.
But for you, as a beginner, strive to give more lengthy but quality posts.
Good luck

I don't know how to make texts bold or italicized. But I try to respond to a discussion concisely and briefly.

I make my posts "ASAP" meaning As Simple As Possible. I do make use of smileys to add expressions to my post but have not used any bold, italics and the like. They do look great and are good for making a point but have not done it so far. Well perhaps later on, I will make use of them.

The formats do help me stress out a point, or when like I am quoting a line from another person or writer. You may have good use out of these in the future. Feel free to use or not to use them

I think what is essential is not really on the length. It's on the content. If you do want to earn though, try to make your responses longer. 4 to 6 lines would do. But if your responses are sincere, regardless of the length, and you take time to respond back, you not only earn more this way, you also gain more friends.

One simple technique in writing is to keep your paragraphs short and clean. The length of the paragraph makes it easier for the eyes to read. It also give readers a breathing room, so to speak.
I make it a point to limit my paragraphs to 3-4 sentences. An article written straightforward in one paragraph looks dull and uninteresting. It looks like a brick wall. On the other hand, articles consisting short paragraphs give the illusion that the article is short irrespective of whether it's a 700 word article or a 7,000 word article.
Readers won't read a 10,000 word mini-novel but they'll actually read 200 short paragraphs consisting of 50 words each. Do the math!!

Me too. Easy on the eyes, right?
It is best to put spaces when you know that your response is going to be long. BUt if your answer is usually just this short, it may not be necessary.

ooh, like this one!
Well, word of advice, you do earn more if you try to make longer answers. Not too long like a chapter of a book but 4-6 lines would do. Or 3-4!. Whatever suits your taste!
But if you are not entirely for the earning, then your process will have to do.

theresaaiza first off no oneliners as mylot admins does not pay even one penny for t hem, plus most of the time the oneline does not adequatelyh explain something anyway. I do try to remember to put spaces between paragraphs if my post is that lengthy but I still maintain and have the earnings to prove it that its smartest to make postings at least four or five lines long to make it really understandable. so no one liners, they are a waste of time as they do not get paid at all.

As far as eye-friendly criteria is concerned, one-liners actually qualify!
But you are right, we don't get paid by giving one-liners but not all of them can be a waste of time. Some myLot friends can give one-liners and still create and generate comments and responses, still creating funny posts. I actually see it all the time. But those are only we are not so much after the earnings and only after the camaraderie.
