Not so crazy about those 3D goggles!

Gone are the days when I could watch 3D animated films, or CG-enhanced sci-fi movies,
or all other fantasy shows without ending up with a splitting headache after stepping
out of the cinema.
Crap and I even have a very bad feeling that they are
going to remake Twilight and make it 3D! Now, why would they do that? To make Edward
Cullen's fangs seem to protrude out of the silver screen?
I'm definitely declaring my protest against 3D! Aside from they are hurting to the eyes, they are hurting to the pockets as well...
Are you a Twilighter?
NO offense.

And here I though that I was the only one who got headaches from watching them! They trigger migranes for me, so I avoid them. If it's something I want to see in a theater, I just wait a few weeks until they get released in theaters that don't have the 3-D capability.
Unfortunately, 3-D is here to stay. More and more movies are coming out that way. There's also new 3-D televisions in stores! No doubt there's more coming.
High definition in 2-D is perfectly fine for me. Although I may rethink that at a later time for watching Russell Crowe or Mel Gibson. In 3-D, I could pretend that they were in my livingroom, right? Guess it would take the fun out of watching movies in my jammies though...

Wow, I am invited to the slumber party of the century. Remind me to shop for some cool glow-in-the-dark moon and stars....
...oh, and my PJs too.

I hope Russel Crowe and Mel Gibson won't feel too much at home with you in your living room, and propose a slumber party!

lol, Edward doesn't have fangs. None of the Twilight vampires do. Yes, I'm a Twilighter, but if Twilight came out in 3D I wouldn't go see it. I have pretty much the same opinion about 3D movies that you do. It hurts my eyes and my head. I don't think the extra money is worth it. The technology's come a long way, but it's still too raw. I think the 3D motions are really unnatural.
Are you sure those days are gone? I can still go see 3D movies in regular 2D.

Edward's fangless??! I think I need to go see his dentist to ascertain that. I hate being inaccurate with my observations!
Or does it only show that I'm not an avid twilighter?

Yes, Edward is fang-less. It's one of the things that "real vampire fans" complain about. "He doesn't have fangs, he eats animals, and he SPARKLES IN SUNSHINE! Vampires DO NOT sparkle!" I hear complaints like that all the time.
I don't really care. I hate vampires. Twilight's a mutant love of mine.

at everything you said. I agree, the Cullens are not the typical vampires that is why they're special among the hearts of many twilighters.
So what if they puncture their victim's skins with their gums and not fangs, right? Although I get suddenly conscious of the softness of my gums by thinking of it that way.1 person likes this

You can take them [3D], and leave them [Twilight]. So I guess you are not a Twilighter!

As I experienced so far, I put the 3D goggles over my specs because normal eyesight just wouldn't do.
With Avatar, I didn't notice the inconveniences much of having to wear those alien goggles because the movie was so great. But I guess I would have loved the 2D version just the same.

Can they fit over glasses, I'd often wondered that? I agree with most people in this discussion that 3D is a way of making people part with more cash and the technology - as far as I know, has a long way to go.
There are even 3D televisions coming out! Ready for the World Cup I shouldn't wonder. When a footy match was screened in 3D recently (in a few selected Pubs around the country) I thought it was weird seeing grown men wear silly, black glasses. I can't see that catching on..I hope it doesn't catch on. We haven't even bought a conventional HDTV and Sky+ HD box yet, still on basic digital. I don't want 3D to complicate things although everything HD is now coming down in price...needs to as well!

I think the whole 3D movie craze is getting out of hand. I still prefer 2D movies in Widescreen. Then again I'm usually behind on the newest entertainment and what not, so I'm sure in a few years I'll be more open to 3D movies. At least the new glasses look better. No more of that red and blue film color.

Although I am staging a protest against those goggles, I am actually not closing my doors for them. So far though there's a lot to complain about as far as those 3D glasses are concerned.
For the meantime, I'm sticking to 2D.

I don't like the 3D fad too... i don't even know why they think people really like it..I don't like the glasses and i don't really care if the people in the movie look real and like touching me..I prefer 2D

I can cite some reasons why the 3D is here to stay despite the protests that the...um....let me count...more or less 7, of us, are staging.
First, we comprise the minority.
Second, they gain more income that way.
Before, usual prices for movies here would range at 75-80 pesos (more or less 2 dollars), now they're at 150 to 200. That's like twice the price!

Oh my!!And I thought I was the only wierd person who had headaches using 3D goggles. I would feel nauseous too.It just doesn't work for me. I threw them off while watching 'Avatar' and I was fine without the goggles. I'm going to stay away from all 3D movies in future...just being reminded of the goggles has given me a headache

I feel sorry for you as I feel the same way for myself. Before, I used to complain at the unnecessary cold of the airconditioning, now it's coupled with headaches, and irritated eyes.

hi Theresaaiza oh my the first time I was young and my eyes were also but now those goggles make me have a blinding headache and hurt my eyes
too so I have to stay away from the 3d thingies now and just go to
ordinary 2d movies instead. also they seem to be terribly expensive and I am not very wealthy either.

The first 3D movie I saw was "A christmas carol" and it was my Aunt's treat. Back then, I didn't really get any headache.
Maybe there is a connection between the amount of money you spent and the resulting headache after watching!

No, you don't necessarily have to purchase the goggles. You buy your movie tickets and they will lend the goggles to you and after that, you give it back. You don't take those thingies at home.
The movie is also created in a different format so that if you remove the goggles, some of the images will appear blurred which will only clear up once you put on those goggles.
Oh go try it out and see if you would like them. If you won't, then we will be sharing the same sentiments about it. I do hope you still would like them

Come on over, the party is at my house!
