Is this not the best sentence ever?

I have read and read the konspiracy theories until my eyes crossed. Some of these birther folks are too much to even comprehend. Anyways, I have just been reading up on President Obama's birth certificate and happened upon this sentence...STEP BACK AND TAKE A LOOK AT THE OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE TO THE CONTRARY AND YOUR SENSE OF WHAT'S REASONABLE HAS TO TAKE OVER. Now I ask you, are many of the birther's so filled with hate they can't think rationally or do they really have no sense of what's reasonable. I was always taught that if you can't look at both sides of an issue, don't form an opinion.

A lot of folks are saying "the birthers" are full of hate, and I just have a soft little giggle. This might be true for some of the birthers. I couldn't even pretend to say otherwise. Some folks are haters. But it's just a regular conspiracy. Bush had a few looming over him. And while there were definitely enough people floating around that absolutely hated the man, many more were just all too willing to cling to a conspiracy. Conspiracies are shexxy -- said in my best Sean Connery accent. Folks shouldn't take them so personally. Obama certainly doesn't mind. Having the conspiracy nuts out in full force (well, they're really not -- but let's pretend MSNBC is accurate lmao) is awesome for Obama. They're stealing the attention away from some of the man's decisions. The birthers are hurting the Obama dissidents much more than they're hurting Obama. Do you believe in any conspiracies? Brother Jeb stole the election for baby Bush? Multiple Kennedy shooters? The world is being controlled by a secret society? Aliens replaced MJ!? I admit some of the birthers seem to be irrational. But "hate" seems a bit much for most of birthers I've seen. They just like their conspiracy.

My point in my post was, you have to look at all sides of the issue you have a problem with. When you ignore everything that doesn't fight your agenda there has to be a reason whether it be hate, lack of reasoning, lack of comprehension....something! I do agree with you, most birthers are amusing, some are downright annoying because of the whatever you want to call it.

Materfish: We finally agree on something. At least we agree three quarters of the way. I also think that the birthers are good for the president. The birth conspiracy keeps his enemies tied up. I think that allows him to govern. Allowing to govern verses taking attention away from methods of governing is where we disagree but we're definitely viewing this from the same angle. lol

I got the point. And I agree with it. People should always look at all sides. But that's the essence of a conspiracy theorist -- ignoring everything that doesn't suit the agenda. Each conspiracy is the same way. Folks use the evidence that makes it "truth" to them, and the rest is either ignored or labeled false. They'll never go away, either. We're stuck with them.

I find yself going back and forth on this. Some of these people just seem fruitcake nutty to me but others are starting to look like real racists. I think a few of them are probably a combination of both.

I think the haters are thinking along the lines of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" and attaching themselves to the tea party movement the same way they attached themselves to the Republican party. The differnce seems to be that the tea party people are at least willing to acknowlege the problem and take steps against it. That's more of a response than I've seen coming from the RNC.

That's the part that gets touchy...some people get totally bent out of shape if anyone even hints at the fact that SOME of those in the birther movement as well as the tea party movement are racists. For a FEW, race IS the motivating factor. That's not to say they all are or even most are but to deny that any racism whatsoever exists is ridiculous. Annie

Isn't it a hoot...lol? The majority of those in the "birther" movement have no clue what "reasonable" means, they're so overcome by hate and bitterness over losing the election they can't see or think straight! There's no such thing as looking at both sides of an issue because to them there's only ONE side and that's THEIR side! Annie

When you're using "this man said this" and "that man said that" as your primary evidence that Obama was born in Kenya, when lawsuit happy attorneys who are getting rich from donations to their websites have their cases thrown out of court after court yet you believe them to be heros, when you intentionally ignore what the U.S. Code says regarding citizenship and eligibility to run for president, when you decide that military personnel who had no problem serving under the president *until* they received deployment orders are heros then, no, you are too consumed by hatred to think rationally.

How does a birth certificate relate to who or what he is now? he had no say in the matter. Also what does it say as i am interested.

The birth certificate is important because if he was not born in the United States, he is not eligible to run for the Presidency of the United States. That being said, I think that people that supported candidates other than Obama are searching for evidence that does not exist in order to disqualify him. They couldn't beat him fair and square so now they are hanging on to any rumor or innuendo as evidence that he shouldn't be the President. Do I think it's racially motivated? No. I think that it is politically motivated. The party that lost always has a bad cae of sour grapes. Remember the lawsuits that the Democrats instituted when Bush beat Gore? Just politics as usual
