Which OS do you prefer and use?

I used Windows 7, XP, Vista and also Ubuntu. Currently, I am still using XP because its the most stable among all of them. Ubuntu was interesting to use since it is both user friendly and if you really like to control the OS to your favor, you could do that with Ubuntu. It took me quite some time ( and a lot of visits to their forums) to learn how to use Ubuntu effectively. It was interesting and quite fulfilling to use Ubuntu but the problem was that if you mess up a little bit with the coding, you could mess up the whole OS and you would have to install it again. Which ones do you guys prefer?

I have used many Operating Systems right from MS DOS to Windows 7 and Linux Ubuntu 4.10 to Ubuntu 9.10 and many others. The best according to me, is Linux Ubuntu and Kubuntu of course. In Windows based OSs, I prefer Windows 7 - it is good, strong and versatile. But, the virus and trojans keep me worried- so I switched to Ubuntu and I use Ubuntu equally as I use Windows. MAC OS X and Fedora are good too. But, I recommend Windows 7, Kubuntu, Ubuntu.

Yes! The one thing I like about Ubuntu was that you don't have to worry about the viruses and trojans. Unlike their Windows counterparts. Unless of course somebody went through the trouble of writing a trojan for Ubuntu and put it in the repo.

There are viruses for Linuxs too you know... I think that Mac OSX, Windows and Ubuntu/Kubuntu deserve the best spots

Definitely Mac OSX (Snow Leopard) because it is just so great I know that Linux can be quite good too, but almost none of the applications work on Linux, and I think that Windows just sucks Mac OSX is the best because of everything in it. I just can't use anything else, so I am kinda addicted to Macs. When I will get my new MacBook Pro, then I will install both Linux (Ubuntu and Kubuntu) and Windows (Windows 7/Windows XP) on it

I'm not much of a Mac user but thanks for your comment! I've had very few experiences with Mac OSX and the use of the touchpad for Mac was always confusing for me

No problem, I totally sugest them The only thing with macs, is that you will have to use it for a week/month before you learn to use it well. There are lots of "tips" for new mac users on Apple's website I think that the touchpad isn't so different to PC's touch pads (unless you mean the macbook Pro), and they are extremely easy to use (again if used for a week/month)

I have used Windows 7, XP, Vista, Fedora, and the ancient Windows 95 and 98. I have not used Unbuntu before but I guess it is not much different from Fedora. Currently I concentrate largely on learning tips on using Windows 7 and Fedora, to discover its full functions and make full use of them. I'm also keen on learning MacOS as it is now one of the most popular OS in the market.

Cool, Fedora. I always wanted to try out Fedora and learn a bit about it. I saw the screenshots for Fedora and the interface does not have that much of a difference with Ubuntu. I guess they have some similarities.

I've used W7 for a while and are very happy with it. Best from microsoft so far. Only problem is some lack of compability from some hardware, but that relates to the slow developers at some products. Overall I'm very happy with it, it got a nice feel and easy to work with.

What I found out, is that some dev don't want to support their older hardware anymore, which gives a nice chance to change product and never go back.

I have to agree with you, next to xp, it is one of the best for microsoft OS. I guess about the compatibility, we have to wait on the dev to make the W7 version of the softwares.

I'm a Linux man through and through, but I must admit to having Windows XP on my box to play games with my daughter. The internet is always accessed under Linux and NEVER by Windows. My current Linux is Fortmactux, a Canadian distribution which I am using almost unmodified. It is based on Slax which is my second favorite distribution at this time.

W7 is a really great improvement to vista. Vista was just terrible, it eats up resources like crazy.

I have used Windows 2000, XP Vista HomeBasics. I have also used Sun Solaris, Ubuntu. Though I like to use Ubuntu but still I like to use XP because user interface. Though ubuntu have the User interface. I have to search a lot for performing various simple operations. Sun Solaris is very useful because it has many inbuilt IDE like NetBeans for coding. Also I like Linux in general, because it comes with many inbuilt softwares like OpenOffice. But again Windows get credit for making the OS easier for common man to use.

Hi, I have never seen Linux or Ubuntu so I don;t know how they work. Now I am using Windows 7 and found it good so for now I'm staying with it. Really don't like Vista though.

Same here, I don't like using vista because of its resource hungry tendencies. I found that Windows 7 eats up less resources.

I have used Windows 98, XP, Vista and 7. But I found vista and 7 to be the best so far. I like the better features as new Windows come out.
