My 10,000th Post...What OTHER Topic Could it Be...lol?

I figured I owed it to my friends here to make my 10,000th post one for the record books and that anything other than "ANOTHER" Sarah Palin discussion would be a major disappointment to everyone here! The only question was exactly what to write about since she continues to provide with with an endless supply of discussion topics. Finally, after much deep and careful thought, I made my choice so without further ado, here is my entry into the five figure category...(drum roll)... A discarded contract found in the trash by students of California State University, Stanislaus, has resulted in an investigation by California Attorney General Jerry Brown. The document includes the demands made by self-described "hockey mom" Sarah Palin for her scheduled speech at the school this summer. Sarah must either be given first class airline tickets or a private Lear 60 or larger. She will have three rooms at a luxury hotel. For her speech she must have water bottles with bendable straws. AUDIENCE QUESTIONS MUST BE PRE-SCREENED! In announcing the investigation, state Attorney General Jerry Brown said, "This is not about Sarah Palin. The issues are public disclosure and financial accountability in organizations embedded in state-run universities." You can read more and view the entire contract here: http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/04/14/sarah-palins-luxe-speaking-contract-spurs-investigation-in-cali/ Any comments? I understand Sarah has made over $12 MILLION since quitting as Governor of Alaska last July; not BAD for a "hockey mom" and certainly NOTHING like ME!! Annie

I could not let such momentous occasion go by without a response. As I am not a Palin fan, follower or even slightly interested in what she does so I normally do not respond to any discussions about her so to keep this response topic... If you are nothing like Palin what is your claim to fame apart from Palin Bashing and Obama Number One Fan??

Actually, I'm afraid I have no claim to fame, I'm still waiting for my "15 minutes" I guess. Unless you want to count when I made the newspapers when I was flashed on my mail route years ago...lol! I'm sure not along when it comes to Palin Bashing although I WISH I'd have come up with the line about her being "Larry the Cable Guy without the class and intelligence". Also, I'm definitely not the "Obama Number One Fan". For one thing, Presidents of the United States as well as other political leaders aren't movie stars or musicians whose sole purpose professionally is to provide entertainment so I don't refer to myself as a "fan" of them. I SUPPORT our President and I voted for him and don't regret it but that doesn't mean I agree with everything he's done or will ever do. In my opinion he's moved a bit too far to the right on some issues, but I've kind of come to realize that's what usually happens. Annie

Annie, I just wanted to post here to congratulate you on your five figure first.... As far as Sarah and her contract and the pre-screen clause are concrned, I guess it will teach the students at Cal State about censorship . Too bad we two Pennsylvanians can't somehow make sure those kids see they unsensored healthcare debate confrontation Arlen Spector had awhile ago with a teapartier. That was Democracy at it's heated, down and dirty best. Nobody paid anybody to draw up a contract or give a paid speaker pre approval of anything.

It's sad because she and others accused Obama of acting like a "rock star" and here she is making demands that equal or better those of any musical diva or rock band. While I understand the need for someone so noticeable in public to be able to get from one point to another with as little interference as possible, but some of the other things seem overly demanding and petty (a "bendy" straw?????) And, of course, the questions in advance are typical of not only Palin, but other politicians so they can pick and choose (not that she knows the answers even when she has them in advance, as we all saw with her palm notes). But, the investigation is not against her as much as the university's refusal to disclose the contract and its terms when they are required to as a state-run university. That is also problematic, so the question does arise about just who requested the "non-disclosure" clause and who approved it and why they would when they know the law forbids it. It is definitely an interesting situation.

...Hi annie, Congratulations on you accomplishment, very impressive. Were you joking when you said you don't knoiw how to put the smiley facein your message? If you were not, all you do is go to the "my lot code" on the left side here and hit the title, the figures will appear and you place the cursor in the message, where you want to place the figure and hit the figure with the arrow. Now Sarahlee, the money being paid is the problem for Jerry Brown, Needless to say he is no fan of Sarahlee I'm sure. But I think he will be fair. They say it's a fund raiser, hoping they say, to raise $200,000 or more. I will be watching for feedback from the students on substance. I think this is the first speech other than tea party events and Republican base events that she has given since the China speech where they walked out on her. I think they are having a problem booking her, as she does not know what the heck she is talking about. Notice she has taken to having someone dish out copy written about foreign countries and such, as if Sarahlee all of a sudden went out and learned what she is saying. It's a comedy show. She has to make as much money as she can before the train crashes. The questions must be prescreened, because she cannot think on her feet, she as I said before and I do believe, has a cognitive reasoning deficiency. You ask her a question, she goes around in circles over and over, unable to arrive at a sensible conclusion. Reading fine, reasoning not a clue. I hope this event takes place. Her admirers see nothing wrong with her, but perhaps somewhere, her hollowness will be exposed. Although Jeb Bush has said she doesn't know anything about the issues, Bill O'Reilly has said she needs to go to Public Affairs College or something, and over 50% of Republican women think she is unqualified to lead anything. Don't know about the men."o) But she rolls on, thanks to good old McCain. Take care. Keep on pushing!

I'm going to try a smiley face thingie so be forewarned, if the wrong thing comes up it will be an accident! Actually, I don't think I ever tried to use one of them but I did try to use bold print a long time ago and it didn't come out right so I just gave up and didn't try anymore. My computer's kind of old - it's past time to upgrade - so I don't know if that's the problem or what! I'm interested also in how the students react to her, in California of all places! It could be quite interesting indeed. I can't thank McCain enough...NOT!! Annie

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Clinton#Public_speaking_and_campaigning Clinton also has spoken around the world about politics and policy issues, often speaking before businesses and charities for over $100,000 a speech. http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/117/features-gore.html A l Gore is a funny guy. And, for his $175,000 speaking fee,

Wow that seems to be a big achievement in here. I am slowly targeting that level as well but I think I would need to post some more to reach that level.

Congratulation on such an accomplishment. Yes Palin is very demanding about all she wants for her speech. She really owes thanks to McCain for selecting her as his VP Candidate. Hardly nobody would had know anything about her since shes was up in Alaska if it wasn't for McCain. I say she would probably still be Alaska Governor also if she didn't run as a VP Candidate. She pretty much caved under the pressure of all the limelight.

That's for sure, John McCain "gave" us a gift that keeps on giving when he gave us Sarah Palin. For me, it's one of those gifts I wished I had a receipt for so I could take it back! Annie

You are consistent-gotta give you that. Sarah's making money? You know someone else had a post about someone else making money too. Like it's a bad thing. Okay, it is because it isn't ME getting the money!

Congratulations Annie...and I think you made a wonderful choice for your 10,000th. post. That certainly was a nifty little contract the Washington Speakers Bureau had drawn up and, I guess if folks are willing to pay rock star prices and give rock star perks to have Palin speak at their event, it's their right. But, no...the hockey mom left the building a looong time ago. I do have an issue with university officials refusing to disclose the financial details when foundation funds are being used so I'm glad it's being investigated.

Thanks for the congrats, Hon. You're so right, the hockey mom left a long time ago if she was ever even here. Before anyone gets their dander up, I'm not attacking Sister Sarah as a mother, I'm just saying her act of being like the average working stiff is suspect and has been all along, in my view. I'm not attacking or criticizing THAT either, my problem is with people who pretend to be something they're not. Annie

Well comparing she has millions in legals fees to pay off she better hope her 15 minutes of fame lasts a little longer. I don't imagine she has got to keep alot of that money. Between taxes and the massive amounts of debt she had when she left office...I don't think it has gone far. Still it is more money than I have ever seen or will probly ever see unless I win the lottery. Personally I am tired of seeing and hearing from her.She has become a "mouth piece" for the RNC. There is nothing "rogue" about her. She sold out to the "party". Maybe she did it because she needed the money. maybe she likes the fame. Who knows. Either way...her time is limited. The masses will get sick of her. I don't see her getting a presidential run off of all this attention.
