hey, I am a believer. But from the last few days one question is just boggling my mind. Can God tell a lie? If not, then doesn't that means that God cannot be called as OMNIPOTENT. I am sure, there will be an answer for this. Help me out. :|

It's not the powerful who need to lie, but the weak.

God is omnipotent regardless of what he does or does not do. If the discussion is whether God could lie or not, I think He could, but He chooses not to.

Did God lie? Apparently ever! In Jeremiah 4:9-10 "At that time, saith the Lord, the king and the leaders will lose the spirit, the imam of the Prophets will tertegum dams will be astonished and said: Ah Lord GOD, really, YOU have a very bamboozle the nation and the people of Jerusalem, saying : There would Peace to you, even though the sword has been threatening our lives! Hi, To answer this question first one has to find out the reason behind our lying. We usually lie when we are afraid. Even if the most selfish person lies because he is afraid that the truth might not give him the desired result. Now anything we do out of fear is not a virtue but a weakness. Weakness is all you need to go along the current. Strength is needed to go against it. Strength is needed in resisting a temptation, weakness motivates surrendering to it. With this realization we call God omnipotent as he is the sole being who has the capability or strength to go beyond all temptation and reach a stage where lying becomes totally immaterial and useless. Thanks God bless you

@noob42, first of all, the word "omnipotent" means all powerful. God is all powerful. God is not a man that HE should lie, nor is HE the son of man that he should change the words that HE has spoken. be rest assured that, when GOD speaks a word, it shall not return back to HIM void, but it shall surely accomplish that which HE has purposed. I encourage you to get closer to GOD. have a close personal relationship with HIM. one way by which you can do this is by reading the bible, and getting to know who GOD really is. Don't let your soul be troubled. Cheers, Linksman

You're right. If he couldnt tell a lie, thats one thing god can't do, so he wouldnt be omnipotent. But if he COULD tell a lie, then that could completely negate the whole bible and even religion in general. How could people put trust in an entity that could lie to them?
