Do you know what "Haig Eyes" are?

Haig is the name of a number of politicians and famous figures both British and American, a brand of Whisky ("Don't be vague ... ask for Haig") as well as some other lesser known things which can be found by Googling. What, though, has given it's name to a special kind or look of the eyes (accompanied, often, by a gesture of the hands)? I suggest that you watch this video (if you can stand it) before replying: http://www.break.com/index/endless-hey-guys-montage.html What words have you found yourself repeating over and over until they mean something completely different or what other things (like "Have a nice day!") really make you cringe?

Hey owlwings! I'm not exactly sure what the point of this horrific video was, but I now want to scream really loud and beat the crap out of someone!lol I see your point! And I do also hate the saying "Have a nice day"! And "see ya later"! "Call me"! (using the hand signal for a phone)! I'm quite sure there are alot more that I could think of, but I've now got a really bad headache from that video so I'm going to leave now and see what the others come up with! See ya, wouldn't wanna be ya! (there ya go, that's another one I hate!)

I'm sorry it gave you the screaming abdabs and a headache, Opal. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, really. "Hey, Owlwings" is appropriate in context (in my language). I'm still trying to work out when we (in England) are accustomed to use it and when we use 'Hi'. (There are also 'Ho!', 'Huh!', 'Hee!', 'How!' - definitely Native American - and 'Heu!' or 'Eheu!' - Ancient Greek - to be dealt with). Another thing I hate is 'I must go and lay down' (hens lay eggs, do ducks lay down?) but 'lay me down' is poetic and antiquated (and grammatically more correct), therefore acceptable. Well, it's late here, so I must go up the wooden hill, powder my nose and slip gently into the land of Nod (all pretentious euphemisms which were best left unsaid, in my opinion).

well you know i have no intention of ever looking at it again. anyway, any word repeated enough times becomes meaningless (if you have not tried this at the age of 10 then pick a word at random, repeat it millions of times and see what happens). annoying catchphrases? hey, i don't mind. hey guys i didn't mind until that, awesome is always annoying. sorry, can't think of any others right now.

Ten seconds... that's all I could take. Thanks. I don't exactly cringe, but I find it disturbing when a seasoned radio person ends an interview with "Bye-bye." Just doesn't sound professional to me.

Possibly my current least favourite greeting. When people utter the "guys" phrase I always cringe inside especially in restaurants. Entirely meaningless and whilst hardly meant maliciously irritating to me nonetheless. I used to say "basically" a lot but have stopped that now thankfully. Gottago!

Basically (), I hate this 'Hey!' greeting, though I don't mind 'Hi!' (or even, perhaps, 'Hai!' as it is spelled in India). 'Hey!' was (and still is) the way someone commanded your attention in England ... especially the kind of attention that you weren't particularly keen on giving.
