Huuh? What does that mean? It means that we, as a country, are particularly fond of killing journalists. Okay, so we are not on top of the list. There are two other countries ahead of us. We all know that we are in this place because of the Maguindanao massacre. Do we deserve this ignominious place in history? Is GMA really doing anything to solve the problem? What should the next president do?

when I was still in college, I was part of our campus newspaper. we held a couple of seminars a year regarding the violence against journalists here in the Philippines. there are hundreds and hundreds of murdered journalists that didnt even make the news. it was really, really sad. it still is, actually.

Yes, that is true. There are a lot of journalists murdered but remain unreported. Which is ironic since they are the ones who report the news.

Aww sadly our country always gets on the higher ranks when it comes to anomalies.

In my opinion, GMA no longer cares because she is about to leave the presidency and she is more busy finding ways in order to save her butt from being sued once she leaves office. This is why she is appointing a chief justice, and her first puppet in our justice system is Secretary Agra. He is even proud by saying that the president approved his decision over absolving the two Ampatuans. For GMA, she has other things to do because in about a months' time, a new president will be elected and most of the presidentiables (with the exception of GIBO) have said in one way or the other that they will pursue corruption cases against GMA.

Sadly that is true. She is busy saving her butt instead of governance. She does not care what kind of legacy she is leaving our poor country as long as she can continue being in power. Election always gives me this sense of doom and a feeling of hopelessness for our country.

this is no surprise for me. the country has bungled controversial cases in favor of the elite and powerful families. in our country, a rich person can get away with crimes or punitive sanctions. well, for one, we have a president that is able to get away from cheating and alleged killing of activists. i hope the next president will try to revive the confidence and trust of people in the justice system. God bless Philippines.

I hear you. We have had so many cases that remain unsolved to this day. We seem to hate the truth and we like to confuse and obfuscate the truth. Why have we come this low? Is it a legacy of the Marcos administration or is it something that has been going on way before that? We are always electing leaders who like to muzzle the truth. Sad, sad, sad.

We have to agree that politics plays a great role in having such incidents which greatly affects our journalist. If our politician will not stop of being so greed with their powers and positions, then we will continue to be on top of the list.

That is true. It seems that all the killings are made to suppress the truth. How is it that they do not realize that the truth will eventually come out and that they cannot suppress it for all time? Take the Ampatuans for example. Did they think that killing all those journalists will just muzzle the truth? I cannot believe what kind of psyche these people have. I think all candidates running for office should be tested (maybe Villar has something there in his suggestion).

That's the truth and we have to accept it.
