They are not expensive, specially dreamhost, it isn't hard to find a coupon code to get $50 off your bill. But you should also consider using a free hosting service, there are some good ones out there. I personally recomend you byethost, I think you can host with them 2 domains and is php/mysql enabled. Check it out, I've never had problems with them (as I have never had any problems with dreamhost).
