Global Warming is a HOAX

Before you get all hot and bothered about the title of this discussion, please read ALL THE WAY through it. I don't want this to turn into a place to rant about why one side is right and the other is wrong. However, I am going to present you with some key points that support my thesis, as is customary in any good debate. If you have something intelligent to contribute, please feel free.
Global Warming has been a big issue in the world lately. The media is constantly bombarding us with facts and figures about how and why the earth is heating up. The way they make it sound, we should all be dead already. However, what they do not tell you is that much of the so-called facts they present you with are flawed, or just flat out wrong.
The biggest piece of evidence in the Global Warming debate is the rise in temperature. The charts and graphs and data clearly show a worldwide spike in temperature over the last hundred years or so. This should be the end of my argument, right? There is no way I can dispute these figures. Well actually, there is.
The media has neglected to mention to you how many of these temperature readings have been taken. Let me enlighten you. Weather stations around the world, many established well over a century ago, have been recording the temperature daily. Naturally, these stations were placed in out of the way, rural areas.
However, with the growth of the population and things such as Manifest Destiny, most of these stations are now right in the middle of major cities. This means that as Metropolitan areas are of course hotter than rural areas on average (concrete holding in heat, cars, people, industry, etc), the temperature readings have been off by several degrees for many decades.
That alone should be enough to plant the seeds of doubt in your mind. However, I will continue. Take, for instance, the media. News organizations are perpetuating the idea of Global Warming. Why? What do they have to gain? It's called Sensationalism, my friends. The media knows that it can keep you hooked if it has a hot story to tell. What's hotter than the end of the world?
Next up we have Capitalism, the driving force behind America. Many major corporations are now selling "green" products, or products that are environmentally friendly. This seems like a no-brainer. Of course you would want to help save the world. And if this is your logic, the logic of these major corporations has worked flawlessly. It's called Bandwagon Economics. They know that if everyone else is doing it, so will you. So they sponsor the idea of Global Warming as a marketing tactic.
Lastly, let's visit some obvious evidence. The industrial revolution took place in the 18th and 19th centuries. It was a time where the expansion of humanity took precedence over our care for the environment. Toxic waste was dumped, chemicals were spewed into the air, and the automobile was born. So logically, this time would be the hottest period in human history right? Wrong. Temperatures have shown little to no increase since the start of the industrial revolution. Also, think about this. If that period had been so bad for the environment that it caused temperatures to rise, don't you think they would be going back down now that clean industry has been the norm for over forty years?
Now, I do not think that going green is a bad idea. I just want you to do it for the right reasons. Do it so that we won't have to worry about real Global Warming in the future. Don't do it because Oprah told you to.

i think you are correct at most places.
but this seems to be true some time.
and may be this is just a hoax but i think the scientists all over the world are not working for those corporations and media, maximum are telling the same.
but whatever i think whether this is true or false.
we should do atleast for our nature if we can do anything better.

I don't deny that scientists are finding results-and I don't deny that the world IS warming up. But the FACT of the matter is that it is warming up at a way slower rate than the media wants YOU to believe. They want you to think that the earth is going to be in flames tomorrow, and that Florida is going to drop off the coast next week. But the truth-which can be found in the research-is that we will not see any effects of this NATURAL heating trend for the next thousand years or so.

Global warming is most hectic problem for the world but still these political leader are not taking this issue as serious. Maladives is a small island country and its hoped to sink in water because of Global warming in 50 years.
In India the Great himalaya mountain is melting because of Global Warming and this will bring problem to coast peoples.
Global warmings has increased the temperature and still it would increase in coming years to 4 degree Celsius.
PLEASE TO SAVE OUR WORLD and ECOSYSTEM PLANT MORE TREES.

You have given all these anti Global warming ideas. You made your self believe that we dont have a global warming yet. But did you even take time off to study and observe the climate just in the place where you live. Is it the same in the last five years.
I have seen the temperatures in summers continuously being above 40 degrees in my city for the last five years. And not more than thirty years back it was supposed to be a summer capital. That means that the temperatures were not not above 32 to 35 degrees. And I am talking in Celcius here. And not to mention that my city was counted amongst the rainforest with a 12 month rain not more than 100 years ago. And these are not weather station studies done by companies selling green products.
In the Sundarbans, the mangroove forests of India, I myself have seen the increase in the temperature of water. It is getting substantially warmer.
And I think this is the case in my country and capitalism does not form the base of our economics.
And yes there are hot and cold cycles in the history of earth. There have been crust displacements and magnetic reversals of poles in the large history of the planet. What is alarming is the rate at which it is happening. No one is saying that it is something new. It happens at a much slower rate. It is supposed to happen at a much slower rate. It is not supposed to change in matters of five years.
So it is not something to ignore. It is something to buckle up and get ready to handle. And it is not Oprah who is saying it. Please dont trivialise this issue.

I don't think this is a hoax because it's so hot nowadays and last december and november, europe experienced the hardest snow fall that 4 days was work free because there couldn't be any movement....i think if you try and check some things out you'll see that weather has been different than previous years. Happy mylotting.

I have to agree you have some points to ponder on... but here in the Philippines, where urbanization is not that extensive, we really have felt our place is getting hotter every year.
You failed to justify matters on climate change. In our country where only rainy and dry season are taking on schedules, sudden occurences of floodings happen during hot season unpredictably driving us to a point of believing global warming is really taking place.....

I failed to mention climate change because the cause should be obvious. It is natural for the Earth's climate to shift; it's been happening since the beginning of time. The planet goes through natural heating and natural cooling periods. In fact, many leading scientists predict that we are headed towards another ice age.

theres also a few reports that have been made where the equipment taking the readings was defective.. causing the reading to be way way off from accurate.. but they dont tell us that either.
while i agree that conservation and going "green" that is so trendy now a days is a good idea for the future preservation of our planet.. i do not like the scare tactics used to motivate people into doing so..
we are not on the cusp of total destruction.. this is not the "11th hour" and people need to just chill out a little bit

Going Green in my opinion is best, cause then you can collect a check from the utility company. Usually more then worth the investment inside of 8 years.
Global Warming is a Hoax, the world as a whole is not getting warmer, however, Global CLIMATE CHANGE is starting to become a serious issue. Cold where it used to be very warm, and too warm where it is usually cold.
We are an adaptable species, it will not matter much to us, it is the way of things, much change is necessary to turn this world into the paradise God has in store for us.

It is said that yes, global warming is a issue bogus, this issues created by The group of hippie who fanatical nature lovers. And this issues also supported as many scientists, such as Bob Carter who said, global warming is already stop at year 1998. He said that from the year 1998, the temperature has stopped heating up even though we still contribute CO2 to the air.
There one lie above the global warming issue that I found from the internet ie about sea surface will rise 6 meters because the melting of ice at the poles. But the IPCC, a UN agency, had said if the sea water was increase up to 7 meters, that's was still within normal limits, and occur naturally. In fact, according the IPCC also, sea level would rise just 59 cm until the year 2100.

Actually ,if the facts presented turns out to be merely half correct,then it is the best news one can hope for,(blessing in disguise)for one thing things are not as desperate or dire as it is made out to be,the other is that Global Warming as a threat is undeniably an acknowledged fact of the state of our earth!
If anything,then we as humanity can have more time and better knowledge or understanding of the situation to cope or even decide on the accurate course of actions to remedy and lessen the threat!
So.lets hope that the points you brought out here has more truth than inqaccuracies.

As far as I am concerned, I think the global warming is not a hoax in nowadays,which can be a so serios issue nefore the human beings. I think everone of the huamn beings should try their best to keep an eye on it. Then they must take measures to protect our mother earth from being hurt again and again. I think I just need to try my best to to warning people around me that the global warming is increasing day by day, which is so danger to us all. We need to try our best to do something now.
