Do you believe in Assisted Suicide?

The other day I watched a show on PBS where a fellow and his wife was
featured. He had some kind of breathing machine and a cripplng disease.
He and his wife decided that he didnt want to wait till the disease killed him
What are your thoughts on this?
Do you believe in legalizing suicide..

something like this yeah i can understand why people would want to do it. i wouldnt let myself get this bad first of all.
but i think if someone is this ill and there is no chance for them i think it should be pass. but often there are reasons why not to do it. i guess some think there are or might be a mercail out there to heal them

When watching the documentary and hearing the man speak who
ultimately took his life I was really saddened that someone
gave up hoping that a cure ..some medical break through could happen.
Since he was an atheist..the idea of God intervening could not
be a factor.. How sad to end your life and not believe in Heaven..
What else is there.

yeah i guess i know you get to that point and its like you just know your time is coming soon.
with my ex brother in law, he knew his time was coming and he fought to the end. but yeah its sad.
i wouldnt do it, i tell people i stay in pain 24/7 and i do get tried of the pain. hard time walking and stuff. but i wouldnt kill myself, but if its my time i wouldnt be sad i did everything i sat out to do. better myself, built a good relationship with family and fix mistakes with friends too.

Yes. In cases like you have mentioned here I believe one should have the right to decided if they want to continue living. If quality of life is unbearable then I think living would be a torture.
To make it universally legal would need really thinking about to make sure people were not taking advantage of it for other purposes.
It's a difficult subject, but one on which many will have their own opinions.
