actually, Using a helmet is the standard safety riding for the rider when riding a motorcycle. And you must know, the fighter pilot also use helmet although no there vehicles pass on her head. why you as the rider who riding motorcycle on the land not use helmet ? Although you have been walking on the side of road, will always there big chance to fall off from your motorcycle, right ?

there are already certain rules to follow when you are driving a vehicle. and the rules said, it is compulsory to follow the rules. when one commits a violation of the rules, he will be apprehended. wearing helmet when riding motorcycle do not actually save life. but accidents if happen, will not as serious as when it happened to one that wears no helmet. mandatory wearing of helmet when driving a motorcycle, including the back-rider, is already a law in the philippines. but even without this law, i always wear mine. I think it is easier for a person to practice the rules of wearing the helmet rather than going through accidents because other people didn't follow the rules of the road. I mean, just look around you, is everybody disciplined enough to follow every rule given by the government to your people? Let's just look at the schools, are you 100% sure that no one in class would dare break the rule? of course not. Most don't think it's worth following rules. But these rules are put there for our own good. Actually, I had a talk with my father just very recently about me wanting to get my driver's license. He told me that he would allow me to do so, but told me that it's really very dangerous to drive these days. Too many motorists, too many people not really following the traffic rules most especially at night. We're talking about driving a car. How much more for motorists? Let's just say that you're the best motorist in the world. You obey traffic rules, you do your thing. Then suddenly, while driving you didn't notice a small pebble on the road (because it's daytime and too much sun). You hit it and it causes your motorcycle to loose control. You get into an accident. Now, What do you think would have happened if you didn't wear your helmet? Do you think you could get out of that alive? Remember that every time you ride your motorcycle, you are stepping into the probability of meeting an accident or not. It's not about how great you are with rules, but about the circumstance that are uncontrollable. The helmet is there to protect our head in case the circumstance doesn't go with your favor. The helmet is your safety net - the last chance your head and your life would ever get. That is more than the traffic rules we are educated to follow.

I have worked in a rescue unit for quite a time. I have responded to a lot of vehicular accidents and I can clearly see that most people wearing helmets are safer than those not wearing any. I know that there are disadvantages when you wear them as stated on your post, but the advantages override the disadvantages. Besides, in our country not wearing a helmet is already a risk.. that is a risk of getting arrested since it is part of our law to always wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle.

not in all cases but in many cases it could save life if it is manufactured according to the standards. in general in any accident if there is a major injury in head then that could even be dangerous for life. but if the injuries were on different body parts, then there are very less danger for life.

I think wearing a helmet can save a life. You said following the rules and regulations of the road can save lives. Well, wearing a helmet is one of the rules. The authorities put them there cuz it saves lives.

I accept your view that wearing helmet diminishes our ability to hear a sound.I also accept your view that following traffic rules will ensure that you don't end up getting into accidents.I was wearing a helmet when the day temperature here was touching 42-43 deg centigrade so i understand the effect of a helmet in hot conditions.But there is an incident which came to my mind an uncle of mine wanted to come from Renikoot in the north to Hyderabad in the south by scooter and he says a heavy truck veered towards him on the highway and he fell onto the road on hos head with the helmet on.The helmet broke but saved his head.My uncle used to repeat this incident to us when we first started riding to stress the importance of a helmet.

Yes, while it might seem to uncomfortable, wearing a helmet is something that might be the difference between living or dying. Granted, there can be some disadvantages to wearing a helmet, of course you could say that about anything that could protect you from harm. However, it is extremely important to protect the head and the brain, as it is an important part to function in life. I do not personally ride anything like that but I will say this. If, I did, and I went flying, I would be very glad that I had a thick helmet on my head. It would be much simpler to have a helmet on and deal with the discomfort, as opposed to having my brains splattered all over the pavement. Wearing helmet will save your life for sure...There are lot of people who met accidents and returned home without a single scratch and there are people who just met with simple accident and given their life..So if you wear helmet it will save0 your life somewhat or other..But if it written that it is the end..then no one can stop whether you wear helmet or be in home..it is over..

Since my child hood 50 years back - I am observing that very less people follow the traffic rules and these are the only people who meet with accidents.Very bad to say.People who do not follow the traffic rules ride vehicles with their head up. I just wonder that many of the people who being educated and have common sense do not not follow traffic rules .This is really ridiculous. Wearing helmet is safe but cannot guarantee life.

well true one friend my cousion was saved once when he fell from the scooter and his head banged against the road but was being saved by the helmet!
