Usually a cat will only sleep on it's back because it trusts you completely. Both of my cats sleep on their back frequently. But one of them may also be because it is more comfortable for him since he weighs 23 pounds and it does take the pressure off his tummy. They will even do this in the middle of the floor since they trust us not to step on them or trip over them. You can consider your cat's sleeping position a compliment to you as he/she obviously trusts you completely.

I have two dogs, and they always sleep pretty much normaly. I think. They cuddle up in little balls, or like I'm not exactly sure how to explain it.. oh and I used to have this other dog who would sleep on his back sometimes, literally straight up on his back, all his 4 legs facing the air. And then he would sometimes make sounds in his sleep lol. But yeah, besides the sound parts, I'm pretty sure we sleep on our backs sometimes. so they can sleep in positions like humans..

My cat has a very interesting sleeping position. She has a secret of how to sleep relaxly and unhealthly. Maybe you'll be surprised about the 'unhealthy' word I use, well, the truth will always win you. One of my cats sleeping position is on a hanger! She leaned herself on the hanger with her head upside down! I don't think that was comfortable, I think that the cat is tortured. The comfortble way is in my father's shoes, cats fit them so well when the curved their agile bodies.

Yes, cats can have funny sleepeing positions at times. We also like taking photos of our 2 cats when they are asleep. They sometimes sleep on their backs with all 4 legs stuck up in the air, or with their head and front paws on one side and their back legs and tail on the other side. So they are twisted in the middle!
