Anyone else tired of the airlines charging extra for every little thing?

I think this is getting ridiculous. Now, even Southwest is getting in on the act. They don't charge for the bags, but the fee they charge for unaccompanied minors is doubling.Let me state for the record, I would never send my 5-11 year old on a plane w/o me But some do, and it's gone from $25 to $50 each way..so you might as well buy a ticket and go too. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36693677

I agree, I wouldn't send mine either, but good grief.. is there that many unaccompanied minors that travel that this increase is worth the effort? I'd think they'd want to increase a more popular "extra" so as to make more money! My daughter is going to Florida next month and have had reservations for months, and he said you get one free carry on and then $35 for the first checked bag and $25 for each additional. I guess whatever tho!

Ridiculous isn't it? I bet more people stop traveling because of all the charges.

I think it's utterly ridiculous as well. Whatever happened to JUST paying for a ticket? I don't understand why airlines have to start charging for everything now- why don't they just charge for extra things, like extra blankets on board, special in-flight meals, extra carry on, etc?

In my opinion, because they can make more $$$ this way.

It's crazy. I kinda admire these kids who are able to fly, unattended. I was a worrier growing up. Still am for the most part. I would have been freaking out over every noise that was made on a plane, that I wasn't able to identify. Airline charges and gas prices in the summer make me want to engineer a giant kite to get me from point A to point B. I'd jump on a skate board, and let it pull me around just to avoid all the charges. *Note to self: learn how to ride a skate board this summer.*

I didn't know that Southwest was raising rates. It seems like everyone is so it's not really surprising. Everything else is going up too, gas, groceries, and other items. Some groceries are keeping the same price but making smaller packages.. yep, I have noticed!
