I just came from a country(norway) where people are used to extreem cold weather. Right now i'm in the tropics for almost a year tending on something. And it's summertime plus the el nino which adds woes. The temperature now keeps going up playing at 40 degrees Celcius. Do you have any suggestions on how to keep oneself cooled down?

Hi bretski_kimie! Yeah ITS EXTREMELY HOT NOWADAYS!. I am currently handling my summer class this month here at the philippines and i almost feel that i am living in mars and stars near the sun. It is very hot plus el nino factors and high-pressure areas. I think the only thing we must do is to turn on all our aircons or if it is possible to sleep the whole summer time in our classroom because it is air-conditioned. ha ha ha ! If you have no aircons at home maybe the best thing we must do is to go to our province where there are many trees, farms, and other beauty of nature where we can relax and cooled ourselves. :)

That's is a very practical solution that you have there. I can't last 10 minutes outside under the sun. It is like you are inside an oven. You have a good point there to go early to school and leave late to maximize aircon time. And it's for free. Thanx!

Summer is a real problem.Take plenty of water, avoid too much of hot, spicy fried food, eat fresh fruits and vegetables and don't go out in the hot sun.People who can afford can drink coconut water too instead of cool drinks like pepsi etc.., Take abath in cold water twice a day. This is a regular feature in our tropical country and we keep sighing and exclaiming"What hot weather !" year after year .THis does not help us keep cool and I am jsut telling you htta this is whta happens every year.

Thank you so much for the insights. I never thought that eating hot, spicy fried foods adds to the situation. That was new to me and i thank you.

Eat cooled foods like ice cream and shake. Drink cold water or cold beverages. I take a bath thrice a day now that it's summer and it's hotter than the previous ones. Try it too. It helps cool down your body.

If you are in a tropical country like ours, The Philippines, you cannot be able to fight and be cooled down from this extreme heat that we are experiencing right now. Maybe all you've got to do is to stay in a cold place like the malls, that if you still got time to do it. Or you go for a swimming, but you have to do it in a covered pool. In our case here in our country, for us to be able to ease this heat that we feel...we drink plenty of cold water, cold juice or soda, but the best of it all, it we keep on eating ice cream. Because going to the malls, sometimes it cost us a lot. The same with going for a swim, it's very expensive.

Where i live, the temperature is also around 40-45 degrees C. It is really hot out there. The best way to cool down is to have a cold water bath whenever you are feeling hot and exhausted. Helps you cool down and remain fresh. :)

That is what i am doing but the problem is that the water that comes out from the shower is already hot. so by the time you are done you begin sweating again. But that is also a very good suggestion to take as many baths as possible. And keep hydrated.
