Do you think its alright to disclose your salary to others?

When I start working, I was advice by my family friend whom I look up him as my big brother. I was told that its not right to disclose your salary to someone, like friends or relatives. Maybe to your husband or wife you can disclose it so that you know each other where to stand in budgeting. Its not also respectable for us to ask someone how much she/he is earning. Maybe asked about the range but not really the exact amount. That is what I am doing, just give them the range of my salary but not really the exact amount.

I think it should be all right to disclose salary matters to friends or relatives, but it's never a good idea to tell it to co-workers or colleagues. However, when asked by friends or relatives, I would usually give them a range, or an approximation.

i do not disclose my salary to my friends and relatives.. it is some kind confidential as we signed the company's contract for our employment... but to my parents i do of course...

i do not easily say or tell my salary to my friends but to my family, to my parents, i can tell them..there is no problem for me if i tell my parents my salary..but to my relatives i do not usually do and to others i also don't... it is some kind of an information security of the company i am working with and after we are hired as an employee we are given a contract that our salary is a confidential thing...
