Standing gathering names at the petition...

So here I am. A guy with mobility issues due to MS. And I'm standing in front of the post office (our community doesn't have letter carrier delivery) gathering names for a petition. Just to explain, the petition is for an initiative to get the government to back off the Harmonized Sales Tax. Anyway, I am standing with my clip board talking to folks. Some have got themselves bathed in perfume... Some have a little on. Some of the women smell great. But I also had spritzed on a little cologne to make me less 'manly' smelling. When all of a sudden, a woman I wouldn't know from Eve... Says to me while standing there, "You smell good." I was shocked. I mean, it's a man's place to proposition a woman. It's kind of expected isn't it? But a woman to say that to me??? Isn't that a little odd? Am I out of touch with reality? Tell me ladies, (or guys if this has happened to you) how common a practice is this???

Well Mike, you may be surprised with how forward females really are these days. I am pretty old fashioned and prefer to be complimented by men. I will say that kind of thing to my man or a man I know really well. But never a stranger!

Well that's kinda how I see it. Compliment your own man/woman if you want. Compliment an acquaintance if you are looking for a relationship. But a total stranger? I guess you can call Olde Fashioned too. 8~)

I well and truly got shocked by it. It wasn't bad because she was reasonably attractive... but it was out of the blue...

It's no big deal. I usually walk by the guys in front of Wal Mart and say, "Nice hat," or something. Being friendly, you know? It's a compliment. I guess you are still "old school."

Do you know the difference between a hat and "You smell good"? I do. 8~)

If I didn't know the guy, I might notice the smell, but I probably wouldn't say anything.

That's the personality of that woman... To say something she wants to say... Anyway, your just shocked... she didn't hurt your feelings isn't? Its kind of unexpected if a woman tells you "you smell good"... hhhmmmmnnn....maybe when that woman smelled you... you reminded her of someone she knows...

I don't know. She didn't hurt feelings with the comment. I was just taken aback by it. I told my wife and she thought it was funny. I would never dream of saying such a thing to a woman I didn't know very well. Or not at all.

Mike, different people have different personalities. Maybe you just meet a special woman. And i don,t think there are something you can do but to say "thank you ".Or maybe next time you shouldn,t wear perfume~
