English reading practice for 2nd grade child

Hi, I am from India, Hyderabad. My son is in 2nd grade. He is normal child mentally as well as physically. His only problem is that he can not recognise the sounds of alphabets in English as well as other Indian languages. Due to which he is not able to perform properly in school. Can someone help me in how bring him out of this problem? Thanks in advance, Padmaja.
