Will you work for the sake of being happy with the job?

Do you think you will work for the sake of money, where everything is about trying to earn as much money as possible? Or will you work for the sake of being happy with the job? Note: The scenario is that you can't have both. Thus, what is your choice? I am asking this because I am in a dilemma. I wanted a job which I have passion in and not a job which I felt like it's a torture working everyday. But the job I have passion in doesn't earn me a lot of money. It's like 500 bucks difference(lesser)/month but as times goes by, the job I have passion in will not bring me to earning big bucks as compared to the job which I felt like it's a torture working in. Can you share with me your choice and advice?

I would go for the one you have passion for, right now I am working for the money, not enjoying my job, just trying to make the most out of it, and I turned down a job I know I would enjoy more as this one paid the most money, now Im regretting it, so Im just taking it day by day and secretly looking for another job, and this time I wont just go for the money.

Hi, I was in the same situation as you but I left the job quite immediately due to the critical role the position plays for the company and thus, I am now unemployed. But because of this, I felt that I have grasp the theory of "Never get a job without knowing in details what is expected from you". Hope that both of us will be able to get the job we have passion in soon. Cheers

I must admit that the job scope will increase over time and we might have duties which we didn't originally signed up for. But finding out and understanding our basic duties is definitely a must. So that's why I mean by having to know the details.

Wish I had that concept before getting into this one, "not getting the job without know the details about what is expected" Im still struggling along, no matter how much I dont enjoy it, as I really didnt like being unemployed, so Im still going everyday and still trying my best, hopefully it will get better. Or hopefully find another, whatever happens I will keep trying!

Hi friend, If you are working on a job that interests you or you enjoy that, there is no work but all play. But very few lucky people gets their hobby as their work, and they enjoy their life too much. For most of others, they do the work because they need to earn money. many of them start enjoying their work after some time, those who can not, find it difficult to adjust to work place. I am one of those who have started enjoying work i do.

Oh yes I much rather work for a job that I like doing than I job that I hate. I have had bad experiences with jobs before so I usually try to look for one that I might somewhat enjoy. Even if you are making money, if you dont like the job then its not that much fun even if its bringing in money for you. I think you should enjoy the job you have all the time.

Hi, I have the same thoughts as you. Because I am very mindful of people around me, I always felt that I should get a job that is on par with my education (because of the cost that have spent on it). But yet I can never stay on the job for long. The longest I held a position was a few months and it's very devastating because I tend to left the position without a job and then I find it most difficult to get over a "depression" stage. Hopefully I can stay on my next job for as long as possible.
