My boyfriend and I are planning to go to Hong Kong and stay there for just one day. I was wondering where it would be best to go, Disneyland or Ocean Park. What do you think? which do you prefer? why?

I personally prefer Disneyland compared to Ocean Park. One main reason, Ocean Park is too crowded. I live in Australia and the aquarium in Sydney already contained all the sea world adventures so there wasn't much to see in Ocean Park for me. I'm a person who don't really go for the thrill so the rides...weren't for me either. When I went there, there were billions of people. It was so hard for me and my family to get anywhere. And the dolphin, seal shows, there were too many people for me to see anything. I guess it's because the tickets to Ocean Park are a lot cheaper than Disneyland thus tourist companies take tourists to Ocean Park rather than Disneyland. I had a great time in Disneyland although I wish that they had a evening parade with all the beautiful lights like they did in Japan. And which one do you prefer knicnax?

I actually prefer Disnyeland too, and all your reasons for not going to Ocean Park is the same, + the fact that most of the pathways are inclined. It's tiring to walk around and fall in line all day. I LOVE DISNEYLAND! It's so magical! When you go there, it's like your 7-year old self can't way to burst out! The only reason why I'm thinking about Ocean park is because my man loves thrilling rides so much. I'm glad to know that I'm not alone on my reasons. haha

The first disneyland I went was in Japan, which is very similar to the one in HongKong. I remember I cried when I left Disneyland park. I too felt the magical atmosphere, it felt like being in a princess story. It didn't feel real yet you were actually there. That day I felt like coming out of a picture book with all the disney characters in it. What I said may sound extreme but it's what I really felt! My 6 year old brother loved it there, he wants me to take him to the one in America. -_-" I'll be broke after that.

I know! It's truly magical. When you ask my my 15 year old and 5 year old brother where they want to go for vacation, they'll always say Disneyland! haha We would like to go to Disneyland USA someday, but like you we'd be broke afterwards.

Disneyland is more popular in Hongkong. But I prefer going to Ocean Park. Maybe it is because I have already went to Disneyland in Florida and L.A That is why I did not like the Hongkong version. I thought it was too small and really lacking in rides. As for Ocean Park, I have always loved going here since I was a kid. For me, there are a lot more things to do here than Disneyland.

knicnax, Honestly, one day in Hong Kong and a visit to Disneyland is not only going to be daunting but unfulfilling, too. The time is just going to be very tight for you to enjoy yourselves fully in Disneyland where you will be skipping attractions and rides to accommodate your schedule. I am just wondering if the both of you will be truly enjoying with the rush. As for Ocean Park, things will be better paced, hence enjoyable. You will have the visit evenly paced without missing the major attractions and shows. So, I am recommending Ocean Park for quality enjoyment where the both of you will not be rushed endlessly and missed out on covering the attraction fully.

What do you mean by we'll have to skip rides and attractions? I've been to Disneyland and the only thing we'll probably miss is the fireworks. (which is great yeah, but it can wait). I spent the whole day there and the only rides I wasn't able to ride were the ones I didn't want to ride. Though there are a lot of rides in Disney land, you'll never have to line up for everything because all rides are equally great. As for ocean park, the theme is great. we both love the sea and he likes exciting rides, but the last time I went there 3/4 of my day was spent on lining up, w/c IS boring if you'll only stay in Hong Kong for only a day. But we're still taking Ocean park a great consideration. The view and rides are simply too great to miss! Thanks for your suggestion
