While travelling by an aircraft, we are advised to wear the waist belt. Many passenger do not adhere to that rules. While taking off and landing ,the passenger wear the waist belt and there after they remove it, to keep them free. When an aircraft flies in the air there are lot of hurdles in the air. After certain height the temperature goes down below 0 degree C. If it goes above 15000 feet there, the aircraft may encounter Jet- Stream ( Heavy wind). The aircraft may likely to get bumpy, and also when the aircraft enter some clouds it may be taken by the up and down currents with in the clouds. The Pilots take care of all these things by way of briefing from the meteorologist. But the forecast of Meteorologist is based on the observation received some hours ago before the flight. It is likely that the sudden change in the pattern of weather condition encountered by the aircraft may be different. It happens some time.In such a situations, if anything happens to the aircraft and the passengers, the peculiarities of weather to be blamed.MyLotters can response their opinion on this.My thanks to the responder in advance.Happy myLotting.

waist belts are made compulsory to wear when we travel on an aircraft, because they just couldn't get anything else more comfortable for us to wear. they started with 'shoe-belts'. but the shoestrings kept on getting in the way, and there isn't much room to bend down on a plane to undo your 'shoe-belt'.
then they tried 'forehead-belts'. but this kept on leaving unsightly red marks on our foreheads when we got off the plane.
the 'chest-belt' was banned after it created complications among those who were using pacemakers.
the 'ear-belt' was very popular during the punk-rock era of the 80s and 90s. but there are not many planes which have them now.
so hear we are...stuck with the 'waist-belt', to keep us safe and sound, in stormy skies...it keeps us in place during turbulence while our dinner trays go flying across the cabin.. :)

Very clear information. This will be useful information to many myLotters and to their relatives and friends. Now only I heard that the above four belts were tried. Wearing waist belt is best way to restrict our movement inside the aircraft.Happy myLotting

On a flight from London to Sfax via Tunis I was in for a very turbulent time indeed. If I hadn't been wearing a seatbelt I would have fallen and perhaps hurt myself. Sometimes there is a sudden change and the seat belt sign comes on. It is expected that passengers wear their seat belt for take off and landing just in case. I know that when an aircraft is half empty on a night flight and I get three seats to lay down on I feel tempted not to wear the seat belt. However in case the plane ride gets turbulent it is wise for me to keep a seat belt around me done up.

You have had the experience and you know the use of seat belt and that save from getting injury while on flight. So, every one should wear seat belt during flight.

Very interesting!
