When they had the hurricanes in New Orleans, everyone was yelling were is the President.......Why didn't he fly over but didn't land the plane....Well the other day they had bad storms in Mississippi and I saw Obama went to Pa.....To give a talk to the families of the men who lost their lives in the Coal Mines which was fine........But he hasn't sent any aid to Mississippi or has he been there..People have lost everything and he hasn't even made and effort to send them anything..... But he has time to fly to Iowa to try to get their votes in the next electiion good luck there dumbie......And he's going to meet with the NFL today in the White House. But he hasn't bothered to say anything about the people in Mississippi or if they are doing to get any help...... Why aren't you people yelling about him not going to help the people of Mississippi aren't they important as the people in New Orleans????????

I don't know where you got the idea that it's the president's responsibility to personally oversee recovery efforts whenever a storm or other weather event hits an area, but it's not. He's also not expected...at least by any rational person...to get on the airwaves and give a shout out to every area that is hit by some natural event every time something happens. The governor of Mississippi has declared a state of emergency in several counties, which qualifies the residents there for federal disaster aid. The Red Cross has set up shelters and the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency are working along with scores of volunteer agencies to assist people there. What happened in New Orleans following hurricane Katrina was the exception, not the rule. Thousands of people aren't normally stranded for days...emergency aide can normally get in. While mentioning the people of New Orleans you seem to have forgotten about the people of Mississippi who were also hit hard by that storm as well as the residents of Florida. Local, state and federal emergency response is coordinated by each state, not the President.

Dont you see? He is a very busy man. He has to run these car companies, and insurance.banking institutions. He has to deal with how he is going to grant amnesty to all of these illegals. He has to worry about getting his minions re-elected. Im sorry but Mississippi will have to wait. Maybe around late 2011 he will fly by....

Langlen, the fisrt year I lived in Florida we had 4 hurricanes come through. Should the president have flown over my state after each storm? The people who live in Mississippi don't have to wait because their state handles emergency response, just as the state of Florida...and every other state does. There is federal aide available that does not require the president's personal authorization.

Oh, please, Laglen, do not go there! Are you forgetting that those banks and car companies willingly and knowingly asked for and received welfare checks at our expense? They gave the government valid excuse to nose in their businesses. Now, do you suppose these companies be left alone to use taxpayers monies to entertain themselves? Why not pay up and get out from under the watchful eyes of the government?

Spalladino - I agree and as most states have the where with all to handle emergencies. I was getting in the spirit of the conversation. Netsbridge - my dear, I am certainly not defending the car companies or banks. My anger is that as a TAXPAYER, I got mixed up in this crap. I think they should have been "allowed" to fail.

Nzinky, did you know that you can go to the official Whitehouse website and ask your question? Well, let's just hope that the government police do not track you down! (Laughs)

Why would the government track me down I didn't say anything that wasn't true...... He's stupid and every time he opens his mouths he proves it.......

I was interested to read a comment earlier which inferred that if people did not have insurance to cover their property then the government would help them out. Is that true? If so, then the insurance companies will find it hard to sell premiums.

Obama is NOWHERE, because he is a real "Nowhere Man" to quote the Beatles. He is a person of neither character nor conscience. He is an arrogant, deceiving pretender and cares not a whit for anyone but himself and his minions. He HATES AMERICA; haven't you noticed yet? He doesn't even know how many states are in this country, Mr. Citizen that he is NOT.

The first reason was because President Bush was on one of his multible vacations when New Orleans was hit and he did not cut his vacation short to deal with it. He did not nor did his White House, HHS, Fema respond for 72 hours. The first on the scene was the US Coast Guard. This was also on the heals of Florida being hit with several hurricane's and not getting any help from his administration so there was already some bad press going on about Florida when New Orleans got hit. When he did appear he assured the American people that "Brownie" (the horse trainer/racer) had the situation in hand. Presidents have learned not to go to God made disasters until the situaltion is stable. President Reagon took a very hard hit for visiting a flood zone in the 80's appearing to help move sand bags while his entourage caused more problems for the locals than any help they could provide. This White House has already responded to the problem, we will have to wait and see if they fix the problem.. He has called the governor and federal disaster folks are already on the ground assessing the situation.

Hi, nzinky. I am sure that Obama will make his way there. He has so much going on and as soon as he gets caught up, he will make a speech about this I know sooner or later he will be able to help these people out. I can't look at his as God or Superman because he isn't. He is only one person. Besides, what Bush did, it will take him many years to fix. It will take time. I know that he is aware of what has taken place in Mississippi. He just has to make his way over there to assist these people. Being that he is only one person, and only one President, he can only do but so much. I understand your concern. And as a U.S. citizen, I am sure that Obama will do his job as President. He has not forgotten about anyone. He just has so much on his plate right now... I am sure that he will get things done in a haste sooner or later. Don't fret..

The President can do amazing things from Washington DC. He is not needed in Mississippi in order to get things done.

The criticism of Bush before, during, and after Katrina was far larger than whether he landed the plane. But I think you know that. Nice try confusing the issue, though.
