Whom would you choose : Wife or Child?

If at the time of childbirth your doctor said that only one could be saved, either your wife or your child. Whom would you choose?

Yeah, do the best to save the both. But if I really really have to choose one, then it's the wife. And yeah, there's always next time for babies.

I'll choose my wife cuz there's always a next time to make babies. It's sad for the baby though.

This very same question was the theme of The Cardinal, a movie in the 70's, I think. The answer given was do the best to save both.
