I would like to share a little bit about where I come from. I am from a little state of India called Mizoram. It is in the North Eastern part of India, right between Burma (Myanmar) and India. Many people haven't heard of it. Some Indians don't know it. Since we are Mongoloids, we look more East Asian(eg: Burmese, Tibetan, etc.) than Indian. One friend of mine was asked to show her passport at Hyderabad Airport. She angrily replied them that she didn't think it was necessary to carry her passport in her own country. I have met a lot of people, Indian as well as Non-Indians, who are surprised that I am Indian. Let me know if you have heard of the place. Do send me message if you have been there.

I haven't heard of that place it is just now. I wouldn't be surprised (based on your description of yourself), if I will be surprised that you are an indian. I am just curious of how do your people feel if they will be in a city, let's say New Delhi. What would be most people's reaction if they see you? It seems that based on your description, you may be treated as an outcast or an outsider. I am really very curious of your place. I hope one day I could travel there. By the way, is your customs very different from the other parts of India? Do you have your own particular culture or something like that?

You are absolutely right. I am living in Jaipur right now, and I have lived in different parts of India before. Some people asked me if I am Chinese/Korean/Thai,etc. And some people asked me if I am Nepali, Bhutanese, etc. In the beginning, I used to be irritated - that someone don't know their own country that badly. But now, I just learnt to take it on stride. I don't feel Indian sometimes too. Yes, we do have very different customs, culture, etc. and our way of living is also different. What can I say? The British put us under India, so we are Indian.
