i do like that.you must always be prepared of what might happen..there might be a robbery happen across the street and you can help by calling the cop instantly..or maybe there is an emergency with your friends or family members.so.what say you?did you do the same thing?i do depend on my mobile phone as we don't have any usual house phone at home.

I have my mobile near by while sleeping mainly because I use it as an alarm clock as well. Prior to that I kept it downstairs because I didn't wanted to be woken up in the middle of the night. Thinks have changed in the last 3 years and if I would get a call in the middle of the night now, I know it would be something important not because somebody was bored or couldn't sleep.

This is one of the reasons why I switched my phone plan so nobody can text me. I noticed that my friends wouldn't call me late at night but they think it would be OK to send a text message. The noise of the text message still wakes me up so I switched my cell phone plan. Amazing how much of my time I have now.

Yes,I also do that because I always use my mobile phone as an alarm clock because I can't seem to wake up on my own early in the morning so I need it there beside me so that I won't be late for work. I also put it there in standby for important calls/messages because we don't have a landline and in case of emergency, the emergency numbers are on speed dial for easy access.

I don't have a mobile phone, or cell phone, however one wants to put it. I do have a house phone, and when I am sleeping, I definitely have it near me. I sleep with it right next to my head on the bed. I've had to use it before. A couple of years ago there was an incident outside my apartment and I had to call 911.

I usually put my phone in the living room to leave it to charge while I sleep, as there is no convenient power socket in my bedroom. However there is a phone in my bedroom. However sometimes I do have my mobile beside my bed as I read some e-books on it before I sleep. You made a valid point that we might desperately need a mobile in reach when there's an emergency, for example a fire or something happening to our neighbors. The only drawback is sometimes I forgot to bring the phone along to work when I put it beside my bed.

I personally don't like sleeping close to my cellphone but I need to wake up early and I'm using my phone as my alarm so I have to live with it. I agree that it is very helpful to have it beside you although it is sometimes annoying when you get nonsense chain messages at dawn.

i also do that.i don't want to go to work lately every day.so i use my phone as a clock.when i wake up every day ,the frist thing i do is to wathing the time.and many times my friends go to my house and ask for help.if the mobile is not near me,i can't get the message.my friends would be unhappy.i always try my best to help them.the mobile phone is a nesessary tool for us.

I to keep my mobile close to me when I'm asleep, not necessarily for emergency or answering in the middle of the night but to look at the time in the morning :). When I wake up if I don't know what's the time I don't feel good, probably it's because of High school program when I used to wake up at 5.30 in the morning in order to catch the train and I always get up of bad too late, I don't know. We also don't have a phone, it is more comfy to use mobiles.
