Labour implodes

Whilst David Cameron has sought to capture the youth vote by claming to like modern music styles like rap and various different artists, Gordon Brown has today taken the more direct approach of disrespecting elders (a sadly popular past-time of youngsters). Despite already looking like a potential 3rd horse in the UK election race, today's episode where Brown managed to leave his mic switched on and label a labour supporter he'd been speaking to as 'bigoted', has dealt yet another blow. My personal favourite piece so far was his appearance on the Jeremy Vine show where he apologised "if i have said anything along those lines or which has been considered offensive." At which point they played the tape back on air, leading to an amusing visual of him sat with his head in his hands followed be his repeated statement amidst much bumbling of words. Whilst i'm sure we've all muttered things under our breath which have been overheard, one would have thought he'd have the guts to apologise for what he has clearly said, rather than for "IF i have said anything like that". You did ... we all heard you. I'm pretty sure the Lib Dems and the Tories no longer see labour as any form of real threat, but i wonder if the continuing demise of labour's campaign will allow some of the smaller parties to poll ahead. UKIP maybe, or even god forbid, the BNP.

Yes, I saw him as the tape was played back to him. As he buried his head in his hands you could almost see the 'think bubble' coming out of his head saying "Oh Sh*t!!" A simple, 'yes I did - & I'm sorry', would have done him more good in this instance I think. He has given the all other parties yet another stick to beat him with. I imagine his PR team will have some discussions on this one.

why has labour not done the humane thing and retired this poor man? everything he does turns into a disaster. he could probably sit alone in an empty room and the building would collapse around him.

i wouldn't get too worried. those two horrible little parties might pull votes from the tories but i would guess labour voters are more likely to go elsewhere.
