I have been doing arts and crafts with my baby girls because since I am 6 months pregnant going outside is a little well alot rough...So I decided to start recycling and doing arts and crafts... yesterday we made a pig out of a 2 liter bottle and a butterfly and a bird out of toilet paper rolls.. Do yall do anything like this with your kiddos...do you have any ideas that I can use with mine.. I told my husband I am saving all the plastic bottles we have.. we are going to going to use the milk jugs as flower pots... so umm ya..

Oh yes...I do these projects with my boys. My older one did a mosaic art project with different coloured paper from old magazines. Both the boys love doing paper mache projects and have made a few stuff out of that. Butterflies with paint on OHP sheets was another favourite. A jellyfish out of paper cup and crepe paper was the younger one's latest.

Thank you I will keep those in mind.. I want to do paper mache but I really don't know how to... I guess I need to get off of myLot and look it up online..lol... but I really like the jellyfish idea... and to me this seems like these things are so much cheaper than buying toys.. so we are doing it to save money and recycle

Yes, it is so much cheaper than buying new toys. I have a cupboard I call the 'junk cupboard' where I store things i can use for our projects. For the paper mache, we didn't use glue...but used flour....you can check online for different options. I worked as a kindergarten teacher and we used flour at the school too...because we were trying to save money.

These kind of projects are a lot of fun to do with our children. One of the things that I've done with my kids is sand art in baby food jars. The sand is made from salt colored with sidewalk chalk and they are able to just layer the colors into the jar. It is a lot of fun and the resulting "craft" makes a great gift for different occasions. We used ours as paper weights for Daddy as a Father's Day gift, but you could really give them to anyone.
