Eat before exercise or exercise before eating?

We just bought an elliptical bike so we could do some exercise at home. However, we are wondering what is the right thing to do before we indulge ourselves exercising. Should we eat first then rest for awhile before we exercise or exercise first before eating? Could you please share your thoughts about this?

I think eat after exercise is better. After doing the exercise, you will feel hungry. If you eat before exercise, I am afraid it is bad for your digestion. It is not suggested to do the exercise when you are full. I love China

It's actually advisable to eat first before exercising. The body needs enough sugar to burn while exercising, and if you have an empty stomach, tendency is that you will not have enough energy to go though your exercise because you'll be too hungry to focus on what you're doing. It's actually recommended by gym instructors at our local gym.

I think you should exercise before you eat. It's bad for the stomach to eat and then exercise. That's what I think and that's what other people say. Yeah, you should do the exercise first thing in the morning before you eat your breakfast.

i think it's better to wait one or two hours after we eat then to do some exercises.or after exercises ,we need rest for one or half hours then we eat.our stomach need enough blood to digest food.

Well for me i prefer exercise before eating because it will cause to mobilize more stored body fat and increase motabolic rate all day long and it makes you feel great all day by releasing mood-enhancing endorphins, it also energized and wake you up.

I have heard this also... exercise and then eat ..as your body is all worked up and running and in better "shape" to digest the food and make it all go where it will work the best instead of doing all that on a full stomach and your body having to deal not only with a full stomach but also get itself reeved up to do its work.

Ask any expert and they will say eat FIRST! Your body needs fuel. Exercising will work up an appetite so you'll most likely have to eat after your work out too, but if you do not eat first then you'll over eat later. I usually go to the gym right after breakfast and work out for an hour, then come home and have an early lunch. By doing this I've lost 70 pounds in about 6 months.

The best time to exercise is early in the morning when the stomach is empty. If you eat before exercising, you will end up having appendicitis. You can eat first before you exercise but you have to allow an hour before exercising.

As far as caloric intake it won't matter. It all comes down to eating less than you burn over the week! I think it is a matter of choice. I cannot eat before I do any kind of intense exercise because I will be more likely to have an upset stomach. I guess getting too hot makes my body want to push the "eject" button..

Sweetie you can exercise first, wait half an hour before you eat. Or you can eat, wait 1 hour before you start to exercise. It work both ways. TATA.

I would suggest you exercise first before eating. However, if you have to eat first, then make sure you rest for an hour or so before doing any exercises.
