how long did it take you to get diagnosed with seizures?

my husband has suffered a lot of seizures this past month and several different kind yet all the test come back clear.. i read that you can have epilepsy and it not show on the tests but is that common?
if you have seizures how long did it take before your doc believed you? did your tests come back ok also? or are you just trying to live with it?
