Every year, HGTV gives away a Dream home, then later, a Green home. HGTV has said its not meant to be kept, but rather as a showcase for products, design and building ideas. The idea is to sell it, take the profits after paying taxes - much more money then you had to start with - and build your own dream home!http://www.hgtv.com/green-home/index.html
This years green home in Cape Cod is so sweet. I think its quite roomy. As always there are complaints. Like no guest rooms. There is a tower but no bathroom. There are 2.5 baths in the entire house - don't know about you guys but I have only ONE bathroom. The other big complaint is no closet in the kids room, when a very nice armoire could be brought in and placed where this book case and chair are. Most small child's clothes - boys at least don't have to be hung up but it may come in handy later. This one poster actually said that it wouldn't even do as a vacation house because the kid's room is so small! Don't know about you guys, but for us vacation is either staying with relatives or a one room hotel room.
There is a nice sitting room that I'd make into a kids playroom - one complaint was no room for the kids to play in their room. No storage naysayers persist. There is a very large laundry room with storage, a huge walk in master closets - two actually and two flex rooms - sitting and tower that could hold double duty storage/furniture. As well as a full size, full height basement and huge garage. But everyone says its not big enough.
The other big complaint was no guest room. How many have that now - we don't. And there are two flex rooms - a tower room and sitting room that could easily be converted. The garage and basement could be as well.
We currently live in a one bedroom apartment. We chose this to be out of the main part of corpus christi, tx. So our "second bedroom" is the couch. Our little one gets the bedroom. We have one closet - not a walk in - and a linen closet. Granted we have a pool in our condo complex, we're close to the beach and we have a fishing deck out back. No complaints! But sheesh, to call this green home 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, huge greatroom, laundry room, basement, tower and sitting room too small! I guess these folks have guestrooms, bathrooms galore and huge bedrooms all around (many apartments have bedrooms that are much smaller then that kid's room with no extra bathroom - in fact usually just one bathroom. I hope someone wins who appreciates it. And maybe this time can be able to someohow creatively afford it.
Take a look at the link and tell me what you think.

Don't worry its real, HGTV and their sister networks are huge cable networks not just a site on the computer. You can visit the home and even be there when the winner visits.
Sweepstakes are real - I've won a lot! I just won and received a PS3 - just in time for my husband's b'day and a ton of movies - some of which will go to my mom for her birthday - in fact been watching some of them today - other prizes from this year include a years worth of vitamins and three supplements - were I to sell these for half off I'd get about three hundred dollars...books, a cool accessory shelf and more. Oh yeah, and I won an $80 dollar Misikko iron - wound up giving it to my sister in law - not very good at straigtening my own hair - I have dyspraxia - and not time! And her iron was on its last legs so great timing. My biggest prize last year was a $1000 dollar gift certificate to a spa as well as some smaller ones, more books, toys etc.

Oh and this wasn't for the Dream home but the green home. Anyway - what do you think of my actual discussion - do you think the green home is tiny?
