How good is it to buy an optin-list email database, for email marketing?

Friends, as i have mentioned earlier, i have started a website, with a forum for health advises online. I have tied up with a few medial and health professionals for being on my panel of advisors. NOW, to be successful online, i need to spread the message. I tried google adwords, and online classifieds, free and paid advertisements. But, no use till now. JUST a few clicks .. no joining. So, decided to buy an email database, they say, it is not spam, and called it opt-in list. IS it useful? any inputs? anyone ever tried such? Please suggest. lest, i lose another bout of hard-earned dollars. thanks in advance.

It's absolutely not useful. Those people don't care about what you have on offer. You had beter made an ebook and then give it away for free on the condition that they submit their email.

but, for that I should start another webpage? ... i will take your suggestion seriously. And, will update soon. Thankyou for the suggestion. You have rightly pointed out. How many more such offers are flocking the net today? thousands or even more. So, why does one have to bother with my offer. In fact, my offer is for a health forum. Did i mention it earlier.
