Which is worse, someone who wouldn't vote because he lost hope in our politicians and political system, or someone who would vote for a candidate because he is the popular choice? I find these 2 types of people really frustrating and it saddens me to think that there are people like these, but personally I think the second type is worse, at least the first one is thinking, the second one is just plain STUPID for me.

Everyone has their own reasons for voting or not voting. We will always have varied reasons but it will be valid to the person who makes it. I think it would be safe to just let people do their thing instead of trying to meddle with their choices or decisions. More problems are caused by meddling with other people's affairs than just stating your belief and hoping they're listen or somehow 'think'. I for one would not like to push my point-of-view most especially if it's about religion and government. It's just that it's a no-end debate and whoever wins will never win a friend in the end. Further, these elections doesn't really mean that whoever is chosen wins, it's the start of their responsibility - and the end of their a$$ kissing. Let's just hope that the candidate we choose would be willing to consider the countrymen's needs more than his own greed.

It's not called meddling, it's called encouraging. It's not like I'm gonna force my opinion on them, it's more on guiding them on the right way of thinking (and not campaigning or lobbying for my candidate). A friend of mine had a debate about this and we both felt good afterwards. neither yielded to the other but we were able to exercise our brains and get each other's points across. i understood his point, he understood mine. let's pray that the next president would be like what you said. I really am hopeful that the next president would be the right one

well, there's no point of forcing the latter if he or she had made they're choice. but if the person isn't really insisting on his candidate you can talk to that person. just don't push if the person is not willing to

I actually think the former is a worse choice; not stupid necessarily because there are a lot of factors at play during elections and people have the right to pick whoever candidate they want, but between someone jaded enough not to vote and someone who just decides to go with the bandwagon, I think the one who didn't vote made the worse choice. Because doing NOTHING resolves NOTHING and if someone complains about the state of our government yet doesn't even exercise their RIGHT to pick the leaders of our government, that's like complaining how hot it is to sit outside under the noonday sun without doing anything to shade yourself. For me, jumping the bandwagon of whoever's the most popular is still making a choice. It can get annoying because popularity =/= competency, but at least they exercised the right that was given to them, and if the popular choice was a stupid move, then they'll have the chance to grow next time. There isn't a fence in something like voting because you'll be under the rule of the leader whether you voted or not. So why not vote and let your voice be heard, as opposed to complaining what sad state the country is while contributing to the ranks of apathy that helps no one?

I agree with you. Nothing solves nothing and they don't have a right to complain. Those have been my points exactly but for some, it's like bad way of saying abstain. It's like a boycot of something that they think isn't worth their 2 cents

hello knicnax, if you encounter person type number one don't hesitate to promote gordon. as for number two, i think debate is a waste of time since they have made they're choice. If gordon wasn't running, i'd rather abstain because i don't see other candidates that are better. i was rooting for noynoy before but after the debates, gordon was my choice.

You know what? I was thinking that I would do the first one, still for the same reason. Honestly, I don't find any ray of hope over the candidates this elections. Since corruption has been embedded in our society for decades, I think and feel that it's already difficult to eradicate and pull it out. In short, I feel that our country has no hope anymore in terms of politics. But this is just my personal perception. I still believe in miracles, though.

Sad to say, you're right. we pretty much have an idea on what will happen next, but then again, it is better not to loose hope in things
