i think its a dental problem.. or you are just hungry while you are sleeping and you are dreaming about eating delicious foods.. :) just kiddin.. ahmm.. according to what i've heard when you have a tooth that's not in its right position it will cause you to do the chewing while sleeping because you are not comfortable to have that tooth on that place.. try consulting a dentist.. surely your problem will be solved... :) good luck.. :)

hmmm, really don't know, maybe the person who do this is dreaming something, maybe that he/she eats something and that's why he/she chews in his/her dream, but the only thing that I surely know is that chewing while sleeping is really very annyoing for the one that sleeps with you

Plenty of people grind their teeth in their sleep. You can get a tooth guard to wear at night if it disturbs a partner or is bad enough to damage teeth. I don't think there is a cure as it is often associated with bad dreams.

Chewing teeth while one is fast asleep is not a major problem in children .In adults it is known as bruxism. The reasons could be several. It could be a dental problem due to wrong alignment of teeth. The dentist can identify this.It could be a stress related problem which requires the intervention of a psychiatrist. In children its not a major problem but in adults it requires consultation of a dentist.

I dont know if its actually "chewing teeth" is the term for that but maybe gnashing is more appropriate. Its a certain kind of abnormality when the brain transmits impulse into another part of the brain that's responsible for speaking. When this impulse is transmitted, the mouth will move but not normally because its suppose to be resting. I dont know if it can be cured but maybe your roommate is too tired or stressed out that's why things like that happen. Maybe he needs to take a break and take it easy.
