Recently I bought a LG LCD model No.1943C on the 9th of April.I unpacked it on the 27th of the same month as I was out of town for a few weeks. The moment I unpacked it I found out that the sides of the LCD are detached and it is a manufacturing defect that needed to be rectified by replacing the existing set. However the company LG is only offering to repair the set and not replace it.Is this fair? Can you suggest ways through which I can force them to replace the set and have anew one?

I believe considering the amount of time that the item is with you its not likely that they will replace it with a new one but they will for sure fi it. In our country the law gives the consumer the right to return the item for as long as it is indeed broken or if theres something wrong with it within 7 days. After that then all they can do for you is to repair whatever it is that is wrong with the unit...

So friend you think that I will be held responsible for my honesty. It wouldn't have been a problem for me to forge the original bill and change the date as suited. Then they would have no other option but to change the set.Do you think that the corporate brand don't care for their reputation at all? These actions will eventually erode their client base.

I think doing something like forging will even worsen the situation, its better that we just go with what we can still do. Although i feel sorry for you i mean for buying something that have defects on it but right now the only possible option that i can see is that you let them fix it. If you try to tell them you did not open the box after buying it then the more reason they will have not to change it...Yes it will erode their reputation a bit but i dont think we dont want something like that to happen i mean accidents such as these happens most of the time...Believe me ive been in such incidents before even worse ones lol

For me it's not fair. The customer is always right. It's defective so why should they make the customer keep it.

Their version is that as the back panel is not an integral part of the LCD so they don't feel the need to replace it.Now if the back panel is irrelevant then why they provide with one?

Thanks friend and surely I am going to see the end of this one as I can't tolerate cheating.Money than the money involved in the transaction I believe that the trust has been destroyed.

In my place there are two kind of warranty, repair and replace warranty. I always ask first before I buy something, what kind of warranty they offer. If I bought at store, sometimes they don't offer replace warranty but repair only even there is replace warranty from main Distributor. It is the store policy, and they not wrong, they won't afford what they can't loose. My advise, if you don't get replace warranty from the place you buy LCD, try the main distributor, what are their policy, is it replace warranty or service? Better not to argue with your store you buy LCD, try to cooperate and make them help you to get distributor warranty. In my place, I pick store that known me well, cause he can help me if anything happen, even formally he don't do that. The store can help me much easily to process my warranty, because they have connection to their main distributor. Something that I can't do it alone... Happy mylotting....

i totally know what you're going through. i had the same problem with my Toshiba tv. but then after asking the shop and checking with the dealer, most of the time they don't replace. but it really does depend on the policy that the company has in the country that you're in. some consumer laws are pretty tough on things like this..
