Can't find a mate? try parthenogenesis.the type of asexual reproduction may be part of an extreme survival strategy for Sharks. In parthenogenesis, females' eggs start dividing without being fertilized .This produces daughters that are genetically similar to the mother. It was first observed in a captive hammerhead shark in year two thousand and one.But this was an isolated incident , and shark pup died after three days , making difficult to say much about its evolutionary significance..This is strange isn't it?

In mammals including human the offspring receive genetic material half from the father and other half from the mother. However to reproduce via parthenogenesis offspring would have double maternal genetic component and none paternal so that would be abnormal or mutated offspring.

I think it is possible in the case of humans, but with a slight twist. The genes may come from 2 people but both females.By combining their haploid eggs it must be possible.Good for lesbians ......... Yes its strange 'asexual reproduction'.But where is the fun in it,it would be so boring for humans...lol .

I think human beings did this experiment at initial stage and then forget about it to get fun in life !
