China should ban knives in public

This morning a piece of news drew my attention that twenty eight children and three adults had been injured by a man with a knife at a nursery school in easten China. It was the third such attack in a month. Very saddly the victims are those kinder gardeners who are barely over 4 years old.Shocking! I started to ponder, what's on earth happening to China. There are more and more 'weired stabbing incidents'out of nowhere ,no reason rising into people's horizon. Most of the stabbing violence are targeting schools and the crimminals are later found to have mental problems according to the courts.Let's just buy this story at the moment, by which I mean sometimes we really have to take one step back before so easily taking in the official explainations. Then why suddenly there came so many psychos? One guy claimed to have failed a relationship with his girlfriend while another one told the public that he was very supset abt his umemployment. Hilarious execuses, if either of that could build up the motive to hurt the innocent, then our society would have much earlier regressed into a mess like the worlords era. But after a spate of these stabs, one thing is for sure, there're voices somewhere in the corner of the society being negelected, there're pespectives towards life being distorted and there're problems exisiting remaining under darkness. Below are the lists of incidents summed up in recent years. 29 April 2010 Three adults and 28 children injured in Taixing ,Jiangsu 28 April 2010 At least 15 children and one teacher injured in Leizhou, Guangdong 24 March 2010 Eight children killed in Nanping Fujian Novemeber 2004 Eight boys stabbed to death in a school dormitory in Ruzhou, Henan September 2004 28 Children knifed in a nursery in Suzhou and 24 children at a school in Shandong August 2004 Pre-school doorman kills one child and injures 14 in Beijing People questioned the USA's system of free usage of guns when the shootings in the schools brought tragedies. Now I started to ponder, if there's not enough pratical efforts stepping up, maybe it's time for the Chinese goverment to scheme out measures to tighten the usage of knives in public!

do you realize you could kill somebody with almost anything. So if you want to ban knoves, you should ban pencils, forks, meat thermometer, rope, glass, metal, wood, do you see where I am going with this?

Dear, from the last parapraph, i hope you understand that i was trying to present an irony, coz everyone is too clear enought to understand it's impossible to ban the usage of knives in public. There should be more efforts stepping up to take this issue into national agenda.

It really is a shame in my opinion that people can't be trusted to act responsibly when they are allowed to carry weapons on their person. The tragedies at the schools can be brought down to a lower level if there were metal detectors or something of that sort upon entering schools (which I honestly think should be done everywhere). However, those things that happen on the street could only be alleviated if they were to ban carrying concealed weapons.

Hi dorannmwin, after series of tragedies, this issue now has risen into the national administrators' attention, and sincerely hope there'll be less physhoes out there.

this happens everywhere. all countries have their crazies who need to kill others for some reason. there are lots of mentally ill people in society in all countries, and such things usually occur because someone in society messed them up and made them that way. that is why all countries have prisons for these messed up people.

I was able to read this one as well and it's so heart breaking to see people are able to do these violent things and to think they were able to do it on children. People like this shouldn't be forgiven. Banning knives in public is a way of preventing it but what if they use other things to kill people? -.- A tighter security on schools should be done for the second home of children is the school. They should feel at home and always be safe.

Are knives in public legal in China? Or are these people packing illegally? Maybe the issue is searching adults who come onto school property suspiciously.

surely it's legal in public, but depends on where you stay.If you are boarding on a train, it's prohibited to carry a knife.anyway, for the last paragraph, i was trying to be ironic.

Sweetie, i think they should ban knives in their homes as well. No one in his right mind attack children with a knife and then use the excuse of a 2 year old to get away with it. Damn idiots. TATA.

OH my you are so smart if knives would have just been illegal this horrid thing would not have happened. You do have laws that forbid murder there right? I that didn't stop some one i know that a knife control sure would have saved the day.
