I realise I might be in a minority here.

But I've only just watched Half-Blood Prince and I didn't like it. It was gloomy (not one sunny day in a whole year!). I can understand stuff being left out but they were adding stuff in that didn't make sense, like the attack on the burrow.
There was a lack of humour and it just seemed to skim the entire plot.
AND they made harry look like an idiot for not defending dumbledore when in the book dumbledoor actively stopped him from helping.
Argh. I hope the next one is better.

It was good, but the book was definitely better. My husband never reads the books, but always goes to the movies with me. I find I have to explain more and more to him about what is missing.

I am not a Harry Potter fan, but my husband is and the greatest mistake we made was to watch in with our free movie gift that our son gave us. It was horrible and my husband agrees with you, so you are not the minority. He has the audio book, and the movie is no near as good as the book. They left out many of the good scenes, it was so depressing sort of like those 1990 movies where everything is blue because the economy is going down hill.
Me? I would have preferred a romantic comedy.

You're not the only one, I agree... I don't like it either! I'm a little disappointed with Half-Blood. Let's just hope the next one would be classic.

No, I completely agree. This movie was poor, whether or not you compare it to the quality of the book. I understand that it's difficult to translate a book to film, but the development of the story's characters were subpar. The interactions between the actors got awkward at some points. I especially liked Harry's relationship with Dumbledore in the book, but I felt that it was lacking in the movie. I feel that their relationship could arguably be a catalyst for some of Harry's motives and actions in the final installment. I also agree about the gloom and doom of the movie; although I do understand that the books do progressively darker, the setting could have mixed it up a little.
