You could do a search for animal rescue shelters in your area. They can have anything, and you'll be helping save an animal. There are shelters for dogs, cats, even chinchillas and guinea pigs in some areas. Going through your options can help you. If you find a certain kind of pet during your search that really catches your attention, then go with that.

Well it honestly depends on what type of pet you are looking for. Ask yourself if you want an animal you can hold and cuddle with, thats soft. If thats the case, then a dog or cat would be great for you. Also especially with dogs, if you like physical activity, thats perfect. Since dogs need to be walked daily and sometimes 2-3 times a day depending on the breed. Also ask yourself if you want an animal that is strictly for display, like a fish or tarantula, crab, something like that. Or do you like lizards, snakes? Also if you are looking to get a dog, make sure you figure out which breeds you like, what color, what kind of personality, how big or small, etc. There are many things to take into consideration when picking out an animal. Its also good to go to your doctor before getting an animal to get tested for allergies. Just to make sure you aren't allergic to any animals. Its always good to be safe than sorry. Now since you say you are a true animal lover, I am going to say its safe to assume you want an animal you can build a bond with. I would suggest a dog or cat. That seems like the best bet for you. They have great animals at the SPCA. That is where all 4 of my cats are from. They are all sweethearts. And the great thing about the SPCA is you can visit with the individual dogs and cats before you decide which one to get. This way you can see if you have a connection. \ Hope this has helped. Get a pet dog..you will really feel the love and gratitude of it till its life long

I am a dog lover. And a doberman breeder here in our place. As of now I have my 13 dobermans at home. What I want to say here is, you will be the one to choose for it. If you want dogs go for a doberman, they are very fierce but they are really amazing.

Go for a dog if u like loyalty or cat for awesome love from it.

Well, I think dogs make the best pets but you need a good sized home and time tio be with the dog, an area to exercise it, money for vets fees and so on. If you have less money, less time and/or a smaller home, I would recommend rats as they make wonderful pets. They are intelligent, friendly and clever animals, but don't live very long (2-3 years or so). Oh and always get at least 2 rats together as they are very sociable.

i honestly say dogs or cats..the basic. i have fish but they are easy to forget about lol. i think in most cases cats are more loving so they are a great pet. i love dogs personally, we have a huge german sheperd and they are beautiful loving dogs. they are also very protective which i see as a plus. i think small dogs are cute but they tend to yap lol so i would say go for a big dog or cat. =]
