When did you realise you are not THAT young anymore?

I am 30 going on 31. And I have realised that I am not as young as I used to be. OK I still don't feel old, but I am not THAT young either. It started when I was pregnant with my second daughter. I was at the doctor's and there was this woman sitting next to me who is also pregnant. I looked at her and I thought 'God, this woman is surely too old to be pregnant,' then I looked at some documents she was holding and it was written there clearly that she was only a year older than me!! Okay, I know I don't look THAT old like that lady (or so I keep telling myself), but then I am not exactly in my teen either. I forgot about the incident until I met some new people coming from my hometown who are, well, wayyyy too young. That's when it dawned on me that as much as I may feel young, I am in my thirties now and not a young kid. Does that happen to you or do you still feel young? If it happened to you, when did it happen?

The registry must be wrong when it stated that I was born in the year 19..? I don't feel old at all. I refuse to surrender to that old age syndrome. Though I am no longer a spring chicken, I feel I am still young, maybe it is only the feelings. Only when I wake up in the morning and looking at the mirror I saw my mother starring back at me, did I realized that oh! I am no longer young. The face is no longer firm and the gray hairs are sprouting all over my head. I must be going downhill very fast and need to live the age I am in.

I hope I will still be around at 90 and blessed with good health. It is news to me that someone can still participate in paragliding at that age. Maybe this person is 90 but have the strength of someone much younger.

I think the phrase to ban here is 'living your age'. Come on, what law says that people in their twenties should act this way and thirties should act this way and so on and so forth. You should act whatever way you wished to and that's that. I know a lady who learnt race driving and paragliding at the age of 90!!

i'm in my early thirties too, adding one more this monday, so happy birthday to me, hahaha. anyways, yup sometimes i feel old when i see those really nice outfits in shops but feel they are not for me anymore. when i get sleepy early at night, i feel old too. when suddenly i dont feel like going out drinking, thats another one. and when my cousin who i am way older turned 18 recently,my goodness, wow, i felt old. partly because her guests where all her age and they looked really young! but then again, when i started partying on the dance floor and enjoying myself, i didn't feel that old. when my parents joked me that i'm too old to party like that, i kinda felt offended because hey, i may not be as young as those kids, but i am still relatively young you know! and its not like i danced with them! i was dancing with my other cousins my age! geesh. maybe they're just not used to seeing me enjoy because i'm the eldest and usually i'm "strict" and disciplined at home. but yeah, there are some instances when i feel old, but in some instances too i realize i'm not that old. gets?

yup, sometimes i dont feel like going out because i feel uneasy leaving my daughter at home, even if i'm already with her 24/7 (i'm a stay at home mom). but i also remind myself that i also have my own life and that i should not let things pass by. i dont want to grow old sooner - spirit-wise.

Yay...Happy Birthday. Another 79-ers. Do you notice that there's more of those times that you don't feel like going out? For me, it's more to do with my two daughters (or at least that's what I tell myself). I just don't want to leave them and when I do leave them at home, I spent the whole time worrying about them anyway. So I ended up not going out.

Hi, zralte. In a couple of more months, I will be 31 years old. This January, the nurse assistant at the dentist office thought that I was 16. I told her no. She was totally shocked! To many people, I don't look my age, but to me, I can't really tell. I do still feel young most of the times. I don't feel that old just yet. I try to take great care of myself so that I won't look and feel young. There are many people that are my age, that looks weigh older than me. Sometimes, I wonder how old should a 31 year old look.

I have a cousin who is 3 years older than me. She still looks 18 or possibly younger. I don't know if it's a blessing or a curse.

I looked and felt old after my first child was born. I was 17 and it was a difficult pregnancy and difficult labor. A year or two later I had my act back together and felt and looked young again. Now 20 years and 4 kids later I am feeling very old. I recently had a 4th son. I really did struggle with blood pressure problems and several other things with this pregnancy. I am on my way to feeling normal again though. I still look older. I really need to get a good haircut and work harder on losing some of this weight. For me alot of my feeling old comes from the weight gain I have sustained over the years. When I lose weight I feel and look so much better. I am combating my weight issues right now again.

Too true. If I lose a bit of weight, I am sure I would feel younger than the way I feel now. Since I lack the discipline necessary for losing weight, I might have to wait out till Oversize is the 'IN' thing again. Congrats on the son. I don't envy the midnight feeding and lack of sleep though. On the bright side, you have all those developmental stages to look forward to.

Twenty five is a little bit young to feel old. But then when you have responsibility, I don't think age counts. I am sure there are lots of people who are in their teens or twenties more mature than me.

For me youre not old.Old for me is 50+ years.I think the media caused us to think that young is just in the age of teens and less 25.I dont like when a person heard that someone is at the age of 27+ is old for them.Come on it isnt!. My answer to your question is I happen to feel young and old at the same time.My age now is 20 and Im currently in 3rd year college. I feel young when Im around my friends specially when we are playing, malling, or any activities that young ones do. I feel old when Im around with my siblings or when Im facing or having conversations with authorities like for example my professors.I should act in my age properly and think okay Im 20yrs old I should be responsible and face and talk with them professionaly. Not making cute gestures and kid like expressions.

Thank you for saying that I'm not old. But not as young as you. Be young, enjoy your twenties. I miss those times when I was in my early twenties.

Oh Zralte, You are just way too young to be feeling that way. It didn't hit me until I was in my 40's that I was in fact getting older. Still, I didn't feel it at all so I didn't give it much thought. I was nearly 40 when I had my youngest daughter. Now, I'm 53 and I realize that I am much older but it's no big deal.

LOL, I know I am still young. Getting old does not bother me that much. It's just that I just came to realise I am not sprightly(?? is that the right usage of that word?) young anymore (boo hoo).Oh well, good times. It still amazed me that somethings that you have enjoyed when you were a bit younger seems so pointless.

I am 39 and going 40 early year. But I still feel young at heart. The only reminder of my age is the arthritis in my right arm. Other than that, I feel so young especially that my daughter is still very young. Never think you are old . ..

I used to feel old when I was 19 as I started getting my first job. I pushed so hard to get noticed by my supervisors and get promoted. I was a call center agent then. After a year and a half, I left the company to be an HR analyst for a multinational petroleum company. It was a BPO where I take calls and answers emails and so and so. I've been doing my best to get noticed and get promoted til I gave up and realized that this routine job doesn't make me happy anymore. I felt older than I felt when I was just starting. I remember how I felt that I'm running out of time. Now I'm on my third job and this is the job that I wanted. I'm a SAP HR consultant for a company working with multinational companies. I entered a romantic relationship and has been going steady with a guy who really takes good care of me. Just recently, he said he wanted us to get married by the year end........... and that's when I thought that I'm still young to get married. Lol!

Well, maybe I'm not that young anymore but the important thing is that I still feel young and vibrant. Enjoying life more than ever than I used to when I was younger in age. For me, getting old is all in the mind.

For me it was like my late forties or mid-fifties but only to a small extent. At sixty I got out and ran a lot and lost a lot of weight and that helped a lot. Unfortunately since then, I have let those slide and I am beginning to feel that I am not so young anymore in some ways. However, I still have some of the same dreams and desires that I had when I was young.

I have to say, I never thought of myself as being old, until about 6 years ago when I had my first heart attack. Now at the age of 42 I am finding out that I have high blood sugar, High blood pressure and bone degeneration in my spine. So yeah, I now am starting to feel really old. My daughter told me 2 years ago I was old. I never really thought about it until when she said it. But its not our age that counts its how we feel about it, I figure if I can still throw a ball around for the kids, ride a bike, and go fishing and camping now, I am still young, even if its just at heart.

Well I haven't gotten the feeling that I am not young anymore but more of the feeling like wow I'm almost an adult. I am two years away from becoming eighteen which I have more freedom. Also the fact that in two years I will be going to college this makes me feel like I am finally becoming an adult. So I think that I am still young but becoming of that age where adulthood is there and all the responsibilities are getting ready to become yours.

It happened to me shortly after my 19th birthday. I was married to a brute of man who stole my spirit. When people ask me if I could be any age again, I always choose 19. I wish I could re-live 19 through my 20's. It took me seven years of his crap to leave him. I feel like an old woman now. I'm about to turn 34 in June.
