Tamano wants to focus on positive campaigning

Tamano says that the smear tactics against Noynoy boomeranged on their candidate. Instead of raising Villar's ratings, the negative campaign waged backfired on him. He denounced Delgado's release of the fake psychiatric report and expressed his displeasure on Remulla's visit to the Ampatuans. He said there is a need to refocus the campaign to highlight Villar's strengths and accomplishments. Says he will talk to Villar about it. If he feels that the party has lost trust in him, he will resign. Do you believe that the smear campaigns were launched by the NP party? Do you think they have a dirty tricks department? Should these people be fired for being incompetent at mudslinging? Do you think Villar will heed Tamano's call and change the direction of his campaign? If not, will Tamano really resign from NP?

Wow how noble of him to officially admit that they are doing this. I think that it will further put down the party that he admitted there are people doing this in the party. This is a sign that from within the party there is going on inside party. The first known issue was the use of Willie's girls dancing in their campaign. Since they have the largest women senator candidates they felt a little bit off especially with Liza Maza being a conservative ones and openly is fighting for womens' rights.

i believe liza maza was so against it that she told them, kembot girls, to wear proper clothing although i'm not sure what she meant by "proper". i was a gabriela youth member back in college and i do believe in fighting for women's rights and promoting women empowerment and because it is our org, which started The V Monologues here, i don't see anything wrong with women wearing mini skirts like those (what more dancers) so i was a little surprise about her conservatism.

Maybe you belong to the liberal types of women but I think Liza belonged to the conservative type of women that sees women dancing in skimpy dresses as exploitation in women. I know there are women nowadays that see nothing wrong in doing so but for some this could be demeaning for them. My point in here is that there is indeed misunderstanding going on in the party about how they do things. It seems that these has been going on since the start of their campaign and if Tamano himself admitted to try to correcting this at this point in time is a little bit late since May 10 is just 9 days and it is a bit late now that he will start doing this or the party would go down further.

I dont think he will heed tamano's call lol , first he will never admit that its their camp thats the one involve in the alleged fabrication of the said report.Second with only few days left in the campaign im sure the mud slinging will be more intense haha. What our politicians don't realize is that the voting public is now wiser than ten or fifteen years ago where people would be swayed when an actor turns into a politician and will smile and wave and that's it. People now scrutinize candidates, and I am no believer of surveys because in the 2004 presidential elections I was approached for a similar survey and the candidates shown were just three and none of them was the candidate that I was favoring. People are now choosing wisely because we are still in the same rut where we have been fifteen years or twenty years ago and trying to earn a living is becoming harder. If Tamano feels that their strategy has backfired, it only means that people really hate TRAPOS (traditional politicians).

I believe every political party has a smear campaign department. I guess this is because controversies easily gets our attention. But i can't say that it's NP who initiated the smear campaign on Noynoy, but my hunch is, they did it . If that is my perception, then chances are there are other's who share the same. In politics, it's about perception and it plays a big role in winning an election. I don't think political parties will fire anybody for mud slinging because they are part of the campaign. a classic example is the medicine that Mar quoted as being taken by Loren in a debate where one of the issues raised is the cheaper medicines bill. I can see that Loren was taken off guard by Mar's revelation. It showed that candidates make extensive research on their opponents to the point of finding confidential information and use it when necessary. The way i see it, what Tamano is saying is a sign that he's going to a different direction. I don't think Villar will take his comments lightly because doing so is admitting that they are doing smear campaigns. I think what Tamano is doing is just saving his own butt because he's name has been drowned by all the controversies his party is facing.
